The average person spends 92,000 hours at work during a lifetime. That is an enormous number of hours to sell and never get back.

But what if those 92,000 hours were full of meaning, passion and purpose? How do we construct a working world that values and accommodates our humanity? How do we construct a life that is not separate from, but fueled by, the purpose we find in our work?

In this podcast, we will explore those questions, and more. We will talk about life lessons and what happens when we bring our whole selves to our work, school, or community. Will we grow as individuals? As organizations? Together, we hope to explore our interest in cultivating meaning and purpose, and making sure those 92,000 hours are spent well, rather than simply spent.

    Crossing the Line

    Crossing the Line

We’ve done a lot of work – and accomplished a lot of growth – together on this season of 92,000 Hours.
We learned what we value. We learned how to prioritize. We learned how to have the courage to walk a different path.

In this week’s episode, we call on you to say yes to the thoughts and behaviors that serve you in your life – and to leave behind what isn’t working for you.
What do you say yes to in 2024? We’d love to hear from you!

    This I Believe

    This I Believe

“I believe human connection is the most powerful engine in the universe.”

In the 1950’s, Edward Murrow asked listeners to reflect on and share their personal philosophies. It became a popular NPR series encouraging listeners to reflect on the core values that guide their lives. On this episode of 92,000 Hours, we begin winding down our season of workshops by asking our listeners to do the same.
When you reflect on your life, what were the major lessons you learned during the seminal moments and turning points? How do those beliefs shape the way you show up and interact with the world?

In this episode, Connection Collaborative Founder Annalisa Holcombe will share her core beliefs and the stories that inspired them. She’ll share the transformative power of vulnerability, how authenticity changed her life, and why human connection is the driving force of the universe.

    Walking a Different Path

    Walking a Different Path

At some point, we’ll all dream of doing something unexpected. It could be moving to a different city, choosing a different job, marrying someone that surprises your family, or choosing to get a divorce. But only some of us actually take the leap to do it.
And in our experience, the greatest rewards are right on the other side of the path-less-traveled.
In this episode of 92,000 Hours, we’ll break down the barriers that keep us from achieving some of our loftiest goals. Together, we’ll redefine success and uncover the people who support our journey to finding it  – no matter which path we take.

    Grief Workshop

    Grief Workshop

We took some time off to tend to our grief.
But now, 92,000 Hours is back and we are ready to forge a new working world with you. We’re not here to tell you to lean into joy. We’re here to tell you to bring your full self to the table: the boardroom table, the dining table, any table where you find yourself. Bring your joy, bring your pain, bring your grief, bring your uncertainty –
And in this special episode, we're doing exactly that.
We explain why we had to pause, reflecting on the effect that grief can have on us. We take a hard look on the lack of adequate professional support we're given for our grief. We dive deep into the different ways we can grieve, while providing concrete and practical tools for you to utilize in your grieving process.
