    On this episode of AudioBookClub…
Matthew and Steve fail to recommend ‘The Light We Carry” by Michelle Obama.
Steve Phillips and Matthew Layton present #AudioBookClub  - the podcast that reviews and recommends audiobooks.
    On this episode:
Steve and Matthew welcome Helena Sheffield, Senior Marketing Manager, Penguin Random House Audio onto their pod.
Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go according go to plan.
Matthew couldn’t quite find it in his heart to recommend that you, gentle listener, spend an Audible credit on 9 hours and 59 minutes of your life on Michelle Obama’s new self-help book and, instead, started playing clips from Barack Obama’s ‘A Promised Land’
Coincidentally, that also happens to be the audiobook that Helena bought for her father as a Christmas present last year.
Helena gives us some fantastic insight into how the audiobook business works - from casting to marketing via the long, hard slog in the recording studio - and gives us a fistful of excellent listening recommendations.

    Spiracle

On this episode of #AudioBookClub, we book ourselves into the independent audiobook platform that’s like a day-spa for your brain…

Then Spiracle is the place for you.
    https://www.spiracleaudiobooks.com/
Sophie Haxworth, Spiracle’s Editorial Manager, explains to Steve and Matthew (in the simplest terms she possibly can) how she fell in love with audiobooks as a child, how she ended up working at Spiracle and how and why the whole platform works.
She also gives you and the boys some audiobook recommendations that are a cut above the tat they usually have on here.
    ‘Insignificance’ - by James Clammer
‘His Bloody Project’ - by Graeme Macrae Burnet
    ‘Njáls saga’ - Trad.

    'Fletch' - by Gregory Mcdonald

On this episode of AudioBookClub, we recommend the audiobook equivalent of that tatty, yellowing, old paperback book that you find in someone else’s holiday home. So slap on your sunscreen, recline by the pool and join us as we get stuck into ‘Fletch'
Steve Phillips and Matthew Layton present #AudioBookClub - a podcast that recommends and reviews audiobooks.
On this episode of #AudioBookClub Steve and Matthew get wrapped up in an historical artefact: Fletch - the 1974 novel that was made into a film in the 1980s starring Chevy Chase.
(Which is currently available for free if you’ve got an Audible subscription. Have a squiz at the Audible Plus section)
