    THIS IS REVOLUTION>podcast Ep. 132: The Scramble for Africa w/ Milton Allimadi

    Throughout the Obama Administration America's military footprint on the African continent expanded greatly through the development of Africom. China has been developing infrastructure on the African continent since the 90s. Now the Russians are showing a presence in Sudan, and even Turkey is playing a role in Somalia.

    Are we witnessing a 21st Century Scramble for Africa?

    Will Africa be the next flashpoint for military conflict for competing global Empires?

    We will ask this question and many more of our guest Milton Allmadi

    Milton Allimadi publishes www.blackstarnews.com and is an Adjunct Professor of African History at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. Allimadi has been a guest commentator on African news on VOA, BBC, Al Jazeera, and WABC TV. He’s the author of the upcoming book “Manufacturing Hate—How Africa Was Demonized in Western Media” due to be published in June, 2021.

    THIS IS REVOLUTION>podcast Ep. 131: Live Music in the COVID Era w/ Conan Neutron, Rick Valentin, Pascual Romero

    Music for me like many others can feel like the last vestige of freedom in a world of work, work, consume. The advances in home recording, simple online distribution have made creating and releasing music extremely accessible.
    But, with the ubiquitous nature of music, 10.000’s of albums at one’s fingertips with the aid of a smartphone and a streaming app, what value does music have for the masses that consume it?
    Before the pandemic music venues were shuttering at a rapid rate. This has been exacerbated by the pandemic. With a convoluted rescue plan to attempt to not only save independent music venues, but attempt to save the jobs of the millions now out of work, coupled with the fact that these same venues are fighting to stay alive against venture capital that was made even stronger due to the original CARES act, what will happen to live music in the COVID age and beyond?
    We’ll ask these questions and more!

    THIS IS REVOLUTION>podcast Ep. 128: America's Most Cancelled w/ Norman Finkelstein

    Political scientist Norman Finkelstein has been an active critique of how the Holocaust is used to protect the abuses of the state of Israel. His work and advocacy have made him perhaps one of the most cancelled intellectuals in recent American history. Finklestein in fact is currently writing a book on the cancel culture phenomenon.

    We will ask Finkelstein about how criticism of Israel gets one cancelled in America and how the nature of ruling class discourse helps facilitate that

    About Mr. Finkelstein (from http://normanfinkelstein.com/)
    Norman G Finkelstein received his PhD from the Princeton University Politics Department in 1988. He is the author of ten books that have been translated into 50 foreign editions, including THE HOLOCAUST INDUSTRY: Reflections on the exploitation of Jewish suffering and, most recently, GAZA: An inquest into its martyrdom.

    GAZA: An inquest into its martyrdom (University of California: 2018);

    Method and Madness: the hidden story of Israel’s assaults on Gaza (OR Books: 2014);

    Old Wine, Broken Bottle: Ari Shavit’s Promised Land (OR Books: 2014);

    Knowing Too Much: Why the American Jewish romance with Israel is coming to an end (OR Books: 2012);

    What Gandhi Says, About Nonviolence, Resistance and Courage (OR BOOKS: 2012);

    “This Time We Went Too Far”: Truth and consequences of the Gaza invasion(OR Books, 2010; expanded paperback version, 2011);

    Beyond Chutzpah: On the misuse of anti-Semitism and the abuse of history (University of California Press, 2005; expanded paperback edition, 2008);

    The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the exploitation of Jewish suffering (Verso, 2000; expanded paperback edition, 2003);

    Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict (Verso, 1995; expanded paperback edition, 2003);

    A Nation on Trial: The Goldhagen thesis and historical truth (with Ruth Bettina Birn) (Henry Holt, 1998);

    The Rise and Fall of Palestine: A personal account of the intifada years (University of Minnesota, 1996).

    Finkelstein has also published several pamphlets, most recently, Goldstone Recants: Richard Goldstone renews Israel’s license to kill (OR Books, 2011).
