    #42 - Mr. Big - Jessica Estabrooks - Part 2

    #42 - Mr. Big - Jessica Estabrooks - Part 2

Jessica was the quintessential small-town girl. Quiet, timid, nice and respectful. She wanted to live her life, have a family and grow old with someone special. Her dreams were seemingly cut short in August 1996. This is part 2 of Jessica Estabrooks’ story, Mr. Big.

For this episode, I’ve had the opportunity to speak to both previous owners, Dawn & Tony of the Domino’s pizza where Shane and Jessica both worked. At the time Dawn and Tony had younger children at home and Jessica would often care for them as a way of earning additional funds. She was their babysitter. Remember when Jessica told her dad that she wasn’t babysitting anymore and was looking for another job? Yes, this couple knew Jessica and Shane a little more than a passing stranger.

If anyone has information on the murder of Jessica Estabrooks, please contact the RCMP Major Crime Unit (south) in NB at 1-506-452-3491 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), should you wish to remain anonymous.

    #41 - The Hands We Trust - Part 1 - Jessica Estabrooks

    #41 - The Hands We Trust - Part 1 - Jessica Estabrooks

Let me set the stage for you. Today we’re travelling to the southern part of the province of New Brunswick, a small Canadian province the hugs the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. A place where you can take a deep breath and instantly relax as you inhale the salt air. A place where you can glimpse the aurora borealis at the right time of the year. A place surrounded by friendly people…most of the time. Specifically, we’re travelling to the city of Moncton and the village of Dorchester, and the stretch of road and waterways between the two. You may have heard of these two places before in a two-part series in season 1 of this podcast. However, our story today remains unresolved and even though the community, family, and law enforcement believe they know what happened, no one has yet been charged, indicted or convicted. I want to remind people that the opinions I might allude to in this episode as well as the opinions of anyone I interview are just that, opinions. It’s up to you to decide your own opinion. Anyone that we may refer to has been named or listed by media in the past. They should be considered innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law. But, maybe you the listeners, hold the key in making sure this person gets the chance to potentially be proven otherwise in court.

Today’s story is about a young woman, Jessica Lynn Estabrooks. You see, Jessica and I have something in common, we’re from the same small village. Did I know her? Not really; I’ve seen her in town, of course, I knew of her, and we rode the same yellow school bus to and from school, during high school. She was a couple of years older than me, and at that age, you’re really years apart. But what happened to Jessica affected a whole community, in more ways than one. A community, that despite the maximum-security prison that sat upon the highest hill, felt connected and safe. Of course, the events affected Jessica’s family and closest friends the most, how could it not?

    #40 - Yellowhead Inn

    #40 - Yellowhead Inn

A heinous act followed by solid police work. A trial filled with a litany of labels against the victim, leading and tickling conscious or unconscious bias and unjust stereotypes, holding a mirror up to the Canadian populace. Coast to coast outrage, would the Canadian justice system change? This is episode 40, the Yellowhead Inn, Cindy Gladue's story.

Cindy met Bradley the evening before. On this evening she, Bradley, and his co-worker Kevin stayed in the hotel lounge at The Yellowhead Inn, where Bradley was staying, until just after the last call. They continued to drink for the rest of the evening. Bradley was showing affection towards Cindy throughout the evening. The three of them left together and walked down the dimly lit hallway towards their respective rooms. This was at 12:42 am on June 22. Cindy was clearly intoxicated. She was swaying as she walked and would grab towards the wall and lean on Bradley several times as they walked down that hall. As they walked down the hall, Bradley asked Kevin if he "wanted a piece of this," referring to Cindy. Kevin declined and told him that he just wanted to eat his food and go to bed. Bradley then said, "Kev, what happens on the road stays on the road; it doesn't get back home."

But when the door closed behind Cindy, as she entered that room, it would prove to be a tragic evening, ending her life.

"I don't think he left that house alive" ~ Dee.

It was the end of August, the last day in fact, and Cory's day started like any other...at the gym. He was in a good mood and joking around; he'd lost a few pounds and was going to need to double down on some eating to gain that weight back. But, by the next day, he'd be missing, and the one person he was last with would keep a closed mouth. What happened to Cory Westcott?

A lot of work was happening to ensure justice would be served.

CJ from Beyond the Rainbow will be telling you about Alexandra and the events leading up to her death and the subsequent investigation. I’ll be interviewing Alyssa, as she was friends with Alex, and together we’ll be taking you on an audio tour of several key locations pertinent to this case.

    #37 - A Mother's Plea - Robert Wagner's Murder

Robert Wagner, known as Robbie to his friends and family, is fondly remembered. He was an enterprising and intelligent young man who found himself down a path that may have unknowingly lead to his brutal murder.

About 3 weeks before he was viciously struck down, Robbie confided in his brother-in-law that he didn't have much time left in this world. And he didn't. By mid-January, his life would end.

The case is cold, but the Major crime unit would move it to the top of their priority list if new information was provided.

Anyone with information about this murder is asked to call police at 519-653-7700 ext. 739 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-TIPS (1-800-222- 8477).
