This month I talked to the Director of Social Inclusion at the University of Warwick, Kulbri Shergill. We touched on social dynamics and how the BLM movement from the USA came over and transpired similarly in the UK and also discussed at length what companies are doing currently with regards to bringing your full self to work but strategies companies could use going forward to continue and to develop themselves into becoming more inclusive institutions.

She has a proven ability to contribute to a company at strategic and operational levels, currently Director for Social Inclusion at the University of Warwick. Episode 6 with Donia Baddou

    Episode 6 with Donia Baddou

Six months We’ve been on this journey together talking to some fascinating people and inspiring stories. This month I caught up with Donia Baddou - someone who I look up to and take inspiration from her personal journey and her career trajectory. We crossed paths a couple of times during our time working in the advertising industry. I met her when she was at Mobkoi where she started as Head of Sales and went up to head up the UK business and then also CCO for EMEA. Since then she has co-founded a new consultancy business and started a beautiful family.
The consultancy she has co-founded is called GrowthLab, which is a new generation of consultancy. It's a knowledge-based consultancy aiming at empowering business growth, with empathy, trust, and human values at its core.
She is a  Business Strategy expert with over 11 years of experience developing small and medium-sized businesses. Having worked for startups, scale-ups, and multinational corporations, her commercial and business strategy experience with startups, in particular, has been key in learning resilience, growth mindset, and the work ethics she needed to succeed in adversity - personally and professionally.
We talk about her humble beginnings, being a second-generation Moroccan immigrant,  growing up in Paris’ social housing, her experiences at university and work, being female, and from an ethnic minority background.
I hope you enjoy this episode - it was fascinating and really made me think and reflect some of the things men take for granted and don't have to pay attention to in the work environment as well as in general day to day life.

    Episode 5 with Scott Sallee

    Episode 5 with Scott Sallee

This month I sat down with another former colleague Scott Sallee. He is the Social Impact Manager for the UK at Dentsu Aegis and he dedicates his time to equipping the next generation of talent with the skills they will need to thrive in the digital economy, creating more diversified leadership, and transforming the role of brands in society.

We chatted about his career path which covered Paris, Evian, and London as well as a spell in California as well as the mental health challenges he has faced and overcome. It's not always easy so thanks again, Scott. You're an inspiration!

He co-Chairs the Wellbeing Committee, is on the Steerco of &Proud, leads the all-company Meditation Mondays, is a board member of the IPA’s Creative Pioneers, and is an ambassador for NABS, the industry’s wellbeing charity partner.

A truly amazing story and an inspiration - I hope you enjoy it!
