Coming off two weeks of post-Easter reflections on Ephesians 1:15-23 [Resurrection Realities, Part 1 (Sunday April 14) and Part 2 (Sunday April 21), available on our Facebook page] we turn our attention to Psalm 16 which connects with and elaborates on some of the themes we saw in Ephesians, namely the blessings available to us at the right hand of God. Like David, may we come to know the truth of Psalm 16:11 - "in your presence there is fullness of joy, at your right hand are pleasures forevermore!"

Roman guards, disciples, and religious leaders find themselves intertwined after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but while their collective world had been turned upside down by the singular, shared event of Easter Sunday, their responses varied greatly and how one responds to Jesus has eternal significance.

The two emotions of fear and joy noted in this passage poignantly and strategically sum up the atmosphere of the first Easter and its continuing significance today. He is risen! Come and listen.
