    En: "Would you like to taste an apple?"

    En: "Please," Johan says and takes the apple.

    Af: Dit is soet en sappig.
    En: It is sweet and juicy.

    Af: Johan koop 'n paar appels en bedank die man.
    En: Johan buys a few apples and thanks the man.

    Af: By die derde stalletjie sien Johan wortels.
    En: At the third stall, Johan sees carrots.

    Af: Hy hou van wortels.
    En: He likes carrots.

    Af: Hy koop 'n klomp wortels en sit dit in sy mandjie.
    En: He buys a bunch of carrots and puts them in his basket.

    Af: Skielik hoor Johan 'n geluid agter hom.
    En: Suddenly, Johan hears a noise behind him.

    Af: Hy draai om en sien 'n klein hondjie wat speel.
    En: He turns around and sees a little puppy playing.

    Af: Die hondjie het 'n blou kraag aan.
    En: The puppy has a blue collar.

    Af: Dit is so oulik.
    En: It is so cute.

    Af: Terwyl hy daarna kyk, besef Johan dat hy iets vergeet het.
    En: While looking at it, Johan realizes that he has forgotten something.
