E44 Navigating Grief: Understanding its Layers and Offering Support

E44 Navigating Grief: Understanding its Layers and Offering Support

Hey there, friends! Welcome to another episode where my wonderful friend Brittany, a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in grief, joins me, for a heartfelt conversation about grief. Together, we're diving deep into this emotional rollercoaster, sharing insights and offering support for anyone dealing with loss.
We kick things off by exploring the concept of ambiguous grief, those losses that don't involve death but still hit us hard. From personal stories to societal pressures, we're unpacking it all and shining a light on the importance of validating these feelings, whether it's navigating parenting challenges or grappling with health issues.
Life's not always sunshine and rainbows, right? We get real about the struggles of staying positive in a world that expects constant happiness. But we also find silver linings, sharing how moments of gratitude can coexist with our grief, offering a glimmer of hope in the darkness.
Transitioning through different life stages can feel like riding a wild wave, especially when it comes to parenthood. Brittany and I share our experiences and tips for finding balance amidst the chaos, because let's face it, adulting is hard, but we're all in this together!
Drawing from Brittany's wealth of knowledge, we dish out practical advice for supporting loved ones through their grief journey. Spoiler alert: it involves lots of listening, empathy, and maybe a box of tissues or two.
As we wrap up, we reflect on the power of naming and acknowledging our grief, finding stability in life's ever-changing tides. And hey, if you need a little extra support, Brittany's got you covered with her blog full of helpful resources.

E43. Breathwork Minisode - Ujjayi or Victorious Breath

E43. Breathwork Minisode - Ujjayi or Victorious Breath

Hi Friends! Let's breathe together! Today I offer a practice of ujjayi breath. this is a common breath practice used in a yoga class, but it can be used any time and anywhere.

Ujjayi breath can sound like an ocean wave or like Darth Vader breathing through his mask. There are many benefits to this breath that include decreased stress and anxiety, deep relaxation, greater mental focus, greater lung function and improved sleep.

Give it a shot and see what you think! And be compassionate with yourself. There is a learning curve here. Do your best and let go of the rest. Come back and do this exercise again and again to build your skills.

Lastly, here is the link to the free mindfulness guide I mentioned.

E42. Moving Toward A Life You Love with Michele Maguire

E42. Moving Toward A Life You Love with Michele Maguire

Mint Miller is the creator and host of the BetterMint podcast. Mint’s podcast is meant to help others by letting her experience be their survival guide because in her stories and in her healing, she believes that others will recognize their own.
As a divorced, single mom of two young girls, Mint has felt stuck in her career for the past 20 years that massively triggers her anxiety. Compounded with the stress of going through a divorce, the combination has caused that anxiety to become debilitating. It wasn’t until doing recent trauma healing work that she realized much of her anxiety is a trauma response to past experiences from childhood. She finally used what she learned in her healing journey and began to set limits and boundaries that changed the narrative of her life and allowed her to step into who she really is and the person she knows she was meant to be. Mint feels that her practice of setting limits and boundaries has made such a profound positive impact on her life that she wants others to learn this practice and experience the same positivity and balance in theirs. She works with successful “go-to” women by coaching them through her “3 Yes Boundary Method” to help them identify what they value most in their lives, so they can say YES to what is most important to them and have the confidence to say no to what does not align. This approach also helps women understand their own value and that their worth can be driven by happiness and purpose, not just by performance or the opinion of other people.

Mint resides in the Boston area with her two little girls and their new golden retriever puppy.

Michele Maguire and I talk about everything from getting unstuck in careers that don't serve for us, spirit guides, boundaries and trauma healing. Trauma healing was a major focus of our conversation and a journey that Michele has been on for a while. She realized that she wasn't just an anxious person. There was unhealed trauma behind her anxiety and it was affecting so many of the choices she was making in her life from who she chose to marry, what career she was in, poor boundaries, and how she parented. Therapy and doing the work has helped Michele gain clarity and take control of her life. She quoted a guest on her upcoming podcast (Better Mint) by saying "what we don't change we choose." What is happening in your life that you want to change, but haven't? Whatever it is, there is always an opportunity to see how our past is defining and creating our current reality, and making the choice for change.

Enjoy the episode friends. And be on the look out for Michele's Podcast called Better Mint!

E41.Unlocking Intuition: Healing Trauma, Embracing Freedom with Madison Arnholt

E41.Unlocking Intuition: Healing Trauma, Embracing Freedom with Madison Arnholt

Today I speak with Intuitive life coach Madison Arnholt. After surviving sexual assault, Madison didn't know how to process her feelings and so she buried them. Years of pushing them away left Madision with anxiety, an eating disorder and raging eczema. She also could no longer hear her intuition because it was buried under so many unprocessed emotions. Madison learned to heal herself and is now on a mission to heal other women. Here are some of the topics we cover during this episode:
How our intuition is often blocked by our emotions
How we can learn to release stuck emotions in our body
Why we don't need to be afraid of our emotions
Small ways we can practice growing our intuition muscle
What is means to be truly free
The power magic and gifts of surrender
What happens when we listen to our bodies

    You can find Madision at:
