Acts 4:1-12

The Arrest (vv.1-4)



1 Pet. 4:12-14, 19 12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory[b] and of God rests upon you…. 19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.

Gospel Guilt (vv.17-23)

 

Amos 9:14-15 14 I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit.

15 I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that I have given them,” says the Lord your God.

 

Zec. 14:4, 6-7, 9,16  On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley.. 6 On that day there shall be no light, cold, or frost. 7 And there shall be a unique day, which is known to the Lord, neither day nor night, but at evening time there shall be light….9 And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day the Lord will be one and his name one.

16 Then everyone who survives of all the nations that have come against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Booths.

 

Isa. 65:20 No more shall there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not fill out his days, for the young man shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed.

1 Pet. 2:2, Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation. Spiritual babies become spiritual adults and some become spiritual leaders, if they’re called and gifted for that.

 

2 Tim. 4:2-4  2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound[a] teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
