Today on the Married Mafia Podcast, we recap our weekend where we attended my work Christmas party and stayed at the Home2 Suites in Perrysburg, OH.

If you follow the show you'll learn that we absolutely love hotels and we stay in one any chance we get. It doesn't matter if it's in town or out of town. Some people might consider it a waste of money, especially if you're still in town, but it's well worth it when you think about the quality time you get to spend with your spouse. We recommend any couple spend a night or two in a hotel as often as you can.

On this first episode of the Married Mafia Podcast, Stan and Yana discuss how they got together and what has led them to nearly 10 years of marriage.

The Married Mafia is a community for young married couples that want to grow together and a podcast for those of us that weren't afraid to take that next step in our relationship.

What started out as a group of three guys that made music together eventually turned into 3 married couples who all became friends and started traveling and hanging out together. This group became known as the Married Mafia.

Unfortunately, 2 out of the 3 couples ended up divorced after just a few short years of marriage. Stan and Yana, the only couple still married out of the group, decided they didn't want to see what happened to their friends happen to anyone else.

Fast forward to just over a year before their 10 year marriage anniversary, Stan and Ayana decided to document their experiences in a podcast hoping that their stories and perspectives would inspire other couples that still believe in the power of a strong marriage and expand the Married Mafia!

Feeding "False Fires"

Today, we released an episode that was inspired by Pastor Steve Furtick's message about how passion needs parameters. Specifically sexual passion.

He brilliantly explains that having sex outside of or before marriage is like building fires that don't have the proper structure to contain it.

Marriage is the structure that Steve suggests should be used to contain that fire.

I would also add that the over hype of fantasy in sexuality is also feeding that "false fire" Steve defines as infatuation.

Men (and women) watching porn on a daily basis could be putting a false image of sex into our minds as well.

Could we be training ourselves to ONLY get aroused by the things we see in porn or by the well placed words we read in romance novels? Maybe.

One thing's for sure is that it depends on the person. Some people can watch porn on a non-consistent basis and be ok when it comes to their expectations during sex. Some couples even watch porn together to get the "juices flowing" so to speak.

But one thing that won't help anyone is shaming them for having those desires. This is something that the church and society as a whole are terrible with in most cases.

I've seen happy couples that swing with other couples and I've seen PLENTY of unhappy couples that wouldn't even consider that lifestyle.

It all depends on you and what you can tolerate as a couple and as individuals and that requires the one thing I'm always advising: listen to your soul.
