Welcome to Good Bodies, a “wellness” entertainment podcast where all bodies are good bodies. If you’re still reeling from the toxic diet culture of the early 2000s (justice for Jessica Simpson) and constantly quoting your therapist, then Emily Lubin and Lauren Hope Krass are here to help you laugh (so you don’t cry). Diets can’t sit with us anymore but there’s a place at the table for body neutrality, body positivity, intuitive eating, and hot takes about which non-dairy creamer pairs best with our sharp cheddar cheese omelettes. I Can’t Freeze My Eggs Because Of My BMI

I Can’t Freeze My Eggs Because Of My BMI

In today’s episode, Remy and Emily do a “Dear DST” from a listener interested in freezing her eggs. She meets all of the requirements to do so, except one—yup, you guessed it—her BMI. At her height and weight, she is considered “unhealthy” and unfit to donate her eggs, despite them not asking any other questions about her physical activity levels, nutrition, or lifestyle. Remy and Emily dissect this frustrating situation, and talk about how BMI doesn’t actually determine your health. They then move on to talk about how they’ve been ~feeling themselves~ and why looking “like a wet rat” can actually do wonders for your hair. They wrap up by asking the age old question: Is maturity not laying around in your own filth?

How Can I *Actually* Feel Confident In A Bikini? Ft. Raeann Langas

How Can I *Actually* Feel Confident In A Bikini? Ft. Raeann Langas

On today’s episode of DST, Remy and Emily sit down with lifestyle blogger, body activist, and curve model Raeann Langas. They talk about how she got started in the industry and WTF a curve model is anyway, because isn’t that just… a model? They then dive into the all-too-real feeling of growing up bigger than your friends, walking around looking at accessories while they try on clothes, and of course, the dreaded Abercrombie and Hollister era. Raeann chats about how messed up it is that so much messaging across social media is about changing your body to make sure you have a good summer — as well as how to ease some anxiety around it. She dishes on her holy grail tips and tricks for feeling confident especially when you’re in a bathing suit (hint: it may or may not involve a spray tan). They wrap up by talking about where to shop for bathing suits that you actually *want* to put on… oh, and that one time that Raeann hosted a pool party complete with a “confidence catwalk” where 150 people hype you up while you walk around in a bathing suit. They wrap up with a round of Last Licks, presented by Panera.

Is South Park Done With Fat Jokes?

Is South Park Done With Fat Jokes?

On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren are reviewing South Park’s newest movie “The End Of Ob*sity” which delves into the current cultural conversation around semaglutide injectables. Yes, South Park is a ridiculous and oftentimes offensive cartoon for adults… but do they make some valid points in this special? One of the running jokes they make is that “Rich people get Ozempic. Poor people get Lizzo.” Lauren especially has some thoughts on this and yes, we do enter the abyss of “Lauren’s conspiracy corner” for just a bit. A message from Emily and Lauren: Okay we love you but please stop making us watch this stuff.

“It’s Not A Diet, It’s A Lifestyle” And Other Lies The Wellness Industry Told Us

“It’s Not A Diet, It’s A Lifestyle” And Other Lies The Wellness Industry Told Us

On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren start things off with their advice segment. A listener writes in who has joined a fitness program which has accidentally reactivated some disordered thinking and eating. She joined because the trainer was super friendly and because they advertise body positive language. Do wellness programs have a responsibility to get the vocab right when it comes to terminology like “guilt-free eating”? If a calorie deficit is still being encouraged, is it really guilt free? This prompts a conversation about how confusing it can be to navigate wellness programs and the fitness industry as someone in search of true weight neutral care. The two close us out with a vocab lesson and tips on what to look out for. Thanks Emily and Lauren!

Help! My Workout Routine is BORING.

Help! My Workout Routine is BORING.

On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren are bringing you a Wellness Check all about their recent experiences with group fitness classes. Lauren recaps an aqua zumba class she recently attended where all the participants were plus size. Heaven is a place on earth and it's in a pool with fellow fat babes?? Then, Emily shares how bored she is with her current workout routine and she even muses about joining Lauren for one of her plus size group fitness classes. The event group is called “Power Plus Wellness” and before each class they make sure to say “All shapes and sizes are welcome here but we are plus size focussed.” Should Emily join in or should it be a protected fat space? Why can’t there be more body positive fitness spaces plus size focussed or not?

Nips, Tucks, Lifts: A Conversation About Breast Surgeries

Nips, Tucks, Lifts: A Conversation About Breast Surgeries

On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren start things off by discussing their opinions on elective plastic surgery. Bodily autonomy is important but are we forgetting to ask investigative questions such as… Is the male gaze playing a role? A self proclaimed member of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee ™ ,Emily shares what it was like to grow up with a mom who had larger boobs and reveals some shocking new information. Then, they welcome comedian and musician, Rachel Green to the show who has recently decided to have breast reduction surgery for medical and self care reasons. Currently at a J cup, Rachel reveals that she’s already feeling some pre-grief about something that has been such a big part of her life; pun intended. She goes on to share how she came to this decision as well as the ins and outs of getting it approved, what the surgery will entail and what after-care will look like. Who are we without our defining physical traits?
