FOOTBALL: Two-time All-Ireland winner Jarlath Fallon looks ahead to Galway vs Westmeath with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly

Galway play their second game in the All-Ireland senior football championship round-robin series on Sunday (3rd June 2024) when they travel to Westmeath.
It's a repeat of last year's fixture when four points each for Peter Cooke and Shane Walsh allowed the Tribesmen pull clear for a 0-20 to 0-12 victory.
That was the first time Galway beat the Lakesiders in championship, having lost to them in a qualifier back in 2006.
Two-time All-Ireland winner Jarlath Fallon had come out of retirement to play that day before picking up an early injury.  It was a day that also saw Michael Donnellan represent Galway for the last time, and current manager Padraic Joyce was also involved.
Jarlath Fallon looked ahead to the game with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly.

SOCCER: Mervue United manager Noel Connolly with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly ahead of their FAI Women's Amateur Cup quarter-final against Wexford's Ferns United

Mervue United head into unchartered waters this Sunday (2nd June 2024) when they welcome Wexford's Ferns United in the FAI Women's Amateur Cup quarter-final.
Just two years after the women's section was formed in the club, the city side have made gigantic strides to reach this stage following a 3-2 victory over Knocknacarra. Mervue recently also won the Championship League play-off on penalties against Moyne Villa.
Their opponents are among the tournament favourites and have already knocked out defending champions Terenure Rangers, and overcame Benfica on penalties just last weekend.
Leading up to the match, Mervue United manager Noel Connolly has been speaking with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly.

RUGBY: Leinster vs Connacht (United Rugby Championship Preview with William Davies and Pete Wilkins)

RUGBY: Leinster vs Connacht (United Rugby Championship Preview with William Davies and Pete Wilkins)

Connacht play their final game of the 2023-24 BKT United Rugby Championship on Friday (31st May 2024) when they travel to Leinster.
A bonus point victory is required to have any chance of qualifying for the playoffs as the Westerners currently sit on 45 points, level with Ospreys, and four points behind Edinburgh, Benetton and Lions.  Only two of those teams will advance past this weekend.
The game comes just six days after Leinster's Investec Champions Cup Final defeat to Toulouse and head coach Leo Cullen makes 14 changes.  Dave Heffernan represents Connacht for the 200th time, academy player Shane Mallon makes his debut, and Santiago Cordero finally takes his place in the starting XV.
As mammoth a task it is for Connacht, they did achieve the bonus point victory away in January 2021 with a 35-24 victory over Leinster and will look to that game as inspiration.  Jack Carty, Caolin Blade and Conor Oliver all started that game.
To preview the big match, Galway Bay FM's William Davies is joined by Connacht head coach Pete Wilkins.

FOOTBALL: Galway minor manager Neil McHugh with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly ahead of their All-Ireland Tier 2 quarter-final against Kildare

Galway's minor footballers return to action this Saturday (1st June 2024) when they host Kildare in the All-Ireland Championship Tier 2 quarter-final.
After the disappointment of missing out to Roscommon in the Connacht semi-final, the Tribesmen will hope to take advantage of the new competition to continue their quest for silverware in 2024.
Two goals just before half-time gave the Rossies an insurmountable lead two weeks ago.  The Lilywhites were also victims of a double whammy as two late green flags conceded cost them a Leinster semi-final against Dublin.
Leading up to the game, Galway manager Neil McHugh shared his thoughts with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly.

CAMOGIE: Galway intermediate manager Conor Dolan with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly ahead of their All-Ireland championship opener against Wexford

Galway's intermediates begin their Glen Dimplex All-Ireland camogie championship campaign when they host Wexford on Saturday (1st June 2024).
The Tribeswomen overcame the Slaneysiders in Bunclody during the league back in March on their way to three victories in Division 2B.
Ardrahan's Ava Lynskey is Galway's captain, with Kiltulla/Killimordaly's Leah Burke as vice-captain.  But they will be without injured duo Chloe Broderick and Niamh Spellman for this c championship opener.
Leading up to the game, Galway manager Conor Dolan caught up with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly.

SOCCER: Galway United manager John Caulfield looks ahead to their trip to St. Patrick's Athletic in the Premier Division with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly

Galway United will go 10 games unbeaten in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division this Friday (31st May 2024) if they avoid defeat to Stephen Kenny's St. Patrick's Athletic.
It's a repeat of the opening game of the season when the Inchicore side nicked a 1-0 victory in Eamonn Deacy Park thanks to a Jamie Lennon third minute goal.
But the Saints have struggled for form since bringing in the ex-Ireland manager three games ago to replace Jon Daly.  And they currently sit in seventh spot on 20 points, seven behind Galway in fourth who have two games in hand.
The last time Galway United played St. Pat's in a competitive game away from home, goals from Jonah Aynunga and Eoin McCormack sent the Tribesmen into the FAI Cup quarter-finals following a 2-0 win in August 2017.
Goals in either half from Jonah Ayunga and Eoin McCormack sent Galway United in the Quarter-Final of the FAI Cup.
