    • Technology

Welcome to Episode Number 53!
Today on the podcast, I talk about an app that helps you track your food intake and lose weight!
But first, here is a little tech news for you.
The news is from: https://www.forbes.com/sites/leebelltech/2018/03/26/the-best-health-tech-2017/#2747737e38df
Healthtech is changing daily and providing so many cool tools to help us get and stay healthier. This article describes 15 of the best health tech to improve your general well-being. In the article, they are organized by the area of your health they will improve. The Omron Evolv is a clinically-validated wireless blood pressure monitor that is light enough to take anywhere with you, while also being super easy to use. The device lets you easily measure, record and share your blood pressure data with your family or doctor using an app. The Wacaco Minipresso espresso maker is small, light and portable enough to ensure you never miss out on your morning coffee again. And it’s a good job. Regularly slurping a cup of the black stuff is associated with endless benefits, such as a lower incidence of Parkinson’s and certain types of cancers, and even reduced rates of DNA damage. The Center for Cohort Studies at Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, recently noted that drinking coffee could also reduce the risk of clogged arteries, which can lead to heart attacks. A cup of coffee a day keeps the illness away. Smart scales are by no means anything new, but the Fitbit Aria 2 scales take weighing yourself to a whole new level. As well as weighing you, the connected scales will check your heart rate, water percentage, body fat, bone mass and muscle mass and keep a record of all this so you can compare your vitals over time. Accurately measures body weight, body composition (including body fat percentage, muscle, water and bone mass) and body mass index (BMI)
The featured app today is Lose It. Lose It! is available for iPhone, iPad, Android, Nook, Kindle, and the Web. Lose It! uses the proven principles of calorie tracking to help you succeed. It’s very easy to enter your profile details and goal weight to get started. The app calculates the daily calorie budget for you. Next, track your food, weight, and activity. This is the easiest app-based weight loss program that I have found. I love the database and barcode scanner feature. You can also log food by taking a photo of the food and the app will figure out what it is! Lose It! basic is free. After trying it out, I upgraded to the Premium version to unlock more awesome additional features. They claim that Premium members report 3x the weight loss of free members.
