But lately, I have been on a routine to take 5 minutes out of my morning and encourage myself. Well, on this particular day, I didn't. Of course it affected my day. But I am learning how important that 5 minutes is...each and everyday.

You know I truly believe how you were raised is how you perceive marriage to be.

My mom never married, so I always had this thought in my mind that I would get married. I would do everything the right way. And to be honest with you I can't tell you at this moment what I thought the right way was, but I just knew that I would be able to get a husband and keep him.

I knew that I would not have kids before getting married and that I would have it all together. Comparing my life right now to my goals back then, I would say I got everything I asked for, but definitely in the wrong order.

On today's podcast I talk about the Marriage Box. Most people get married believing a myth that marriage is a beautiful box full of all the things they have longed for (love, companionship, their dream that came true...)

Marriage is not a fairy tale all the time. Yes, there are moments where married life can seem like a fairy tale or maybe a dream come true. But the truth is marriage is work.

Know that going through things while dating is a little different when you're married. I was probably the biggest advocate that said marriage would not change me. The only thing that is changing is my last name. But marriage did change me.
