    27. How to Prioritize Time with God Each Work Day (and tips for each Enneagram type too!) with Amy Wicks

Today I have my friend and former podcasting client on the show, the one and only Amy Wicks! I can't wait for you to meet her as she is a wealth of knowledge about so many things, including how to make it a priority to spend time with God before work (or after work) and what types of spiritual disciplines different personality types need to focus on the most, since they don't come natural for them.

In this episode we chat about:

    1. The different terms for spending time with God and why Amy calls it "Office Hours with God"

    2. The spiritual discipline to focus on for each Enneagram type, depending on their triad (so either Heart, Head or Gut triad)

    3. The contrast between a day spent time with God first thing and one without time with Him (and why it also works for some people to be more consistent doing quiet time in the evening, after work)

    4. Advice to prioritize time with God, even when your kids are little or when you are on vacation

    5. Why different personality types thrive doing different things with God to spend time with Him

    26. How Our Relationship with Instagram and Food Can be Similar (also sharing my social media boundaries in this episode!)

    26. How Our Relationship with Instagram and Food Can be Similar (also sharing my social media boundaries in this episode!)

How we do one thing can be similar to how we do other things in life. I noticed this when I started adding in more Instagram into my life after taking a long break. It felt like I was allowed to eat all foods now, after being on a restricted diet. I didn’t like how it felt!

In this episode, I share about how borrowing the healthy mindsets around food I had learned through Intuitive Eating was healing when applied to my relationship with social media.

    I discuss in this episode:

What made me a little prideful in 2023!

The pros and cons I see of using Instagram

Social media boundaries I’m personally using right now and lovin’!

How food and phones can be thought about in similar ways, in order to enjoy a healthy and balanced relationship with both

***Note: Comparisons between my relationship with food (thanks to Intuitive Eating!) and how I use my phone starts at around 29:11!

    25. I was Unemployed and in an Identity Crisis (and how God helped me source my identity in Him and not my work)

    25. I was Unemployed and in an Identity Crisis (and how God helped me source my identity in Him and not my work)

Today I’m sharing something I’ve never done publicly (and not often privately either). On this episode, you’ll hear me get into the details of why I suddenly left a job I loved, without having another job lined up and how that had a massive impact on my identity when I couldn’t find work for years.

    In this episode you’ll hear:

What profound thing a hairdresser spoke over me during my years of unemployment

A time I let fear make my decisions about work and then deeply regretted it

The reason I had to leave a great job, with no other work in place to transition into

How I set myself up to hear from God of what to do next

Practical ways God has taught me to label myself as He labels me

A powerful concept my husband shared with me, to not be ashamed of having a non typical job and work hours

    Bible verses mentioned:

2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.”

    Ephesians chapters 1,2,3

    Bible verses mentioned:

Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control."

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Colossians 3:17 "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

Colossians 3:23-24 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Philippians 2: 14 "Do everything without complaining and arguing. "

Philippians 3:1 “Finally my brothers, rejoice in the Lord!” and also This is the day the Lord has made."

Psalm 118:24 "This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!"

Ephesians 4:29 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

Ephesians 6: 5-8  "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free."

    Bible verses mentioned:

Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Proverbs 16:31 "Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life."

    Luke 9:12-17

12 Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.”

13 He replied, “You give them something to eat.”

They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.” 14 (About five thousand men were there.)

But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15 The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. 16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. 17 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
