MARIO CANON - EMPIRE SHOW ACTOR || RAPPER || Sits Down with M2 THE ROCK

MARIO CANON - EMPIRE SHOW ACTOR || RAPPER || Sits Down with M2 THE ROCK

Michael Molthan aka M2 The ROCK sits down with Mario Canon

Hi Mario, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One of the biggest risks I've ever took was putting my job I had for 6 years after recently being promoted. I was an assistant manager at cellphone company. I was working full time plus overtime and pursuing my music career. I had recently gotten into fitness as well so for the past couple years I had been sculpting my body. I was exceptionally well at my job, so I had a lot of repeat customers. One of them owned a gym franchise and told me I was wasting my talents celling phones, and I should work for myself being a personal trainer. He said it would free up my time for creativity and it would be fulfilling. I asked, “how much do they make?” He said, “how much do you want to make?”. It was scariest thing I ever did. I had two kids young and major bills at the same time how was I going to make this work? That first week training I blew up! My old job even called me back offering more money and a promotion, but I was enjoying my freedom. I was able to invest more into my music career and eventually ended up on television as well! A few years as a trainer and I bought the gym franchise!

M2 THE ROCK with LUKE HOKENJOS of GIVE 'EM JESUS

M2 THE ROCK with LUKE HOKENJOS of GIVE 'EM JESUS

Luke Hockenjos was on a fast track toward death until the Lord intervened and saved his life. After many years of drug abuse, running from the law, and alcoholism Luke decided he was ready to die. After being cut off on the interstate and a high speed chase, he pointed the nose of his truck toward the other vehicle and attempted to ram them off of a bridge. He heard the Lord say to him "This is not the plan I have for you, it's time for you to go." He put his truck in reverse and a few hours later stopped using drugs and surrendered his life completely to the Lord.

At this point in time, Luke was homeless with no money to his name. He began seeking the Lord and travelling wherever God led him, which was all over the country. This trip was totally unplanned but guided by the Holy Spirit. Each leg of the journey Luke met person after person who encouraged him, gave him a few dollars for gas, and sent him further on his journey.

Luke looked up the 100 largest churches in the United States and ended up at a church in Chicago, Illinois. When Hockenjos arrived at the church, he learned they were hosting a Celebrate Recovery meeting later that evening. Celebrate Recovery helps people break the chains of bondage to alcoholism, drug use and other addictions and dysfunctional behaviors. During the Celebrate Recovery meeting, Hockenjos said the Holy Spirit led him to a Casting Crowns concert in Georgia. Hockenjos arrived in the arena with the song “Overcomer” playing in the background. Hearing ‘Overcomer’ showed him that what had recently happened to him was really real. Luke had overcome that which Satan was chaining him to. Luke then continued his journey to more churches and more casting crowns concerts.

Luke finally returned to Ruston, Louisiana later that month and preached his first sermon in late 2014 at Unity Baptist Church in Oak Grove, Louisiana. “I was nervous and called my uncle and he said, ‘Son if you just give them Jesus, he will give you the rest,” he said. “It was at that moment that it took off. Through God’s faithfulness Luke continues a life free from bondage to sin. “Looking back on my journey, God provided what I needed when I needed it,” he said. “To this day I have been in full time ministry. I have never missed a bill.”
