    Veronica Cartwright

    Veronica Cartwright

I wasn’t in Speed! It’s Pride and we’re proud to be here with Veronica Cartwright. You Might Know Her From Alien, The Witches of Eastwick, The Birds, The Children's Hour, Will & Grace, The Right Stuff, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Inserts, and The X-Files. Veronica talked to us about her proper role in the queer canon byway of the Scissor Sisters, Jerry Herman, and StraightJacket; the trans retcon via James Cameron of Lambert in Alien; and her performance in the old Hollywood lesbian film The Children’s House opposite Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine. And that’s just the beginning! We also got to dig into her iconic roles on The X-Files as an abductee in one of the scariest arcs of all time, her rubber-faced scene-stealing scenes in The Witches of Eastwick,  working with Alfred Hitchock...multiple times, and her criminally underseen performance in Inserts. What a goddamn treat. And no, she wasn’t in Speed. Happy Pride, queerdos, we love you!

    Julia Duffy

Bang bang! We are here this month with Julia Duffy. You Might Know Her From Palm Royale; Designing Women; Newhart; Looking; Baby Talk; The Mommie; Intolerable Cruelty; and Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker. We got to chat with Julia about her incredible arc as Mary Meredith Davidsoul on Apple TV’s starry Palm Royale. That finale twist, huh? She also gave us the scoop on playing Patrick’s mom on Looking (and the importance of playing mom to a queer person), her iconic run on Newhart (7 Emmy nominations!), and her ‘90s run as “Julia Duffy, sitcom saver” including joining the powerhouse female ensemble of Designing Women. We also got to chat about Julia’s book Bad Auditions, who was in those rooms with her, and what it was like playing a high school student at 30. Truly a treat!

    Siobhan Fallon Hogan

    Siobhan Fallon Hogan

This month we’re just wild about Siobhan Fallon Hogan. You Might Know Her From Men In Black, Forrest Gump, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville, The House That Jack Built, Shelter in Solitude, Rushed, Holes, Seinfeld, and Saturday Night Live.
Siobhan gave us all the goods: from iconic dialect work in your favorite movies to her years-long collaborations with Lars von Trier. Siobhan spilled on doing bits while performing in Shakespeare in the Park, having fart competitions with Ben Gazzara on the set of Dogville, and getting horrifically killed by Matt Dillon in The House That Jack Built. We also got to talk about her turn as a screenwriter of two indie films: Rushed and Shelter in Solitude (both avail to stream now), and how her Catholic values inform all her work. A true delight from start to finish! Just feel better knowing that Lauren Bacall once asked, “Will we ever work again?” and know you are not alone! Love you mean it!
Also, please note we recorded this before we both texted each other “O.J. Simpson is dead!” so yeah, O.J. Simpson is dead and maybe we conjured it by talking about his acting and prison work.

    Judy Reyes

    Judy Reyes

Judy, Judy, Judy! We’re just mad about Judy Reyes. You Might Know Her From Birth/Rebirth, Claws, Scrubs, The Horror of Dolores Roach, Smile, Bringing out the Dead, One Day at a Time, and Devious Maids. We talk to Judy all about her Indie Spirit-nominated turn in the indie horror Birth/Rebirth which is a little Frankenstein, a little Thelma & Louise, a little Whatever Happened to Baby Jane–we highly recommend it! Judy takes us through the psychology of playing a grieving mother, acting opposite a child and a pig, and grounding the horror elements. Then, we dig deep into her oeuvre from playing Carla Espinosa for eight seasons on Scrubs to playing gay as Quiet Ann (no -e) in one of the best female ensembles on television on Claws. All that plus, coming in to elevate a horror flick like Smile, headlining the candy-coated Marc Cherry/Eva Longoria dark comedy Devious Maids, and forming a community with other Latina actors in this horrific (we hate but love it) industry. We love you.
