"Be That Voice That I Wanted to Hear!" How Marc Almodovar Overcame Depression to Create the Largest ADHD Men's Community!

Episode #5: I talk with the founder and president of the Men’s ADHD support group on Facebook Marc Alvomodar about how he got involved in such a much-needed platform. Marc describes how he always knew that he was a little bit different and how he was “living in distraction.” How being diagnosed at sixteen with ADHD and severe depression helped forge his desire to help others by getting into coaching. Marc was shocked to find that dedicated safe spaces for men to come and share openly about their struggles with ADHD were virtually nonexistent.
Marc recalls the journey from just an idea to now being one of the largest men’s ADHD support groups reaching over 20,000 members. He also talks about his experience growing up in the hispanic community with ADHD and they are still largely underserved. We also talk about depression, and he describes it as a mind that is “wired against him.” With the tools he learned to harness he was able to rewire his brain and transform into a more energetic and enthusiastic person. Looking back, Marc expresses how he is grateful for that time and how it inspires him to “be the voice that I wanted to hear at that time.”
