so good pod is ostensibly just an excuse to sit down and talk with a friend for a while and become a bit closer. We share a coffee together, or tea, or beer, or even listening to an album or song, and use that as a jumping off point to talk for a while. Because I love friends, and they're all incredible amazing people, and there's always so much I don't know about people, or I feel just dedicating time to talking with someone is a really positive way to become closer to them - and a really wonderful way to spend time. Hopefully you enjoy the conversation, and feel free to use it as an excuse to start a conversation with a friend in your own life! Stay well :) Updates are (ideally) on Saturdays.

Season 1 Episode 12 - the Red Hot Really Hospitable Kind Kimchi Chef

As we are all undoubtedly aware, we are currently moving through a massive time, particularly in relation to the current discourse in Australia, sparked by the protests in America, regarding racial inequality, police brutality and systematic injustice. As discussed in the pod, the following link is to a google docs page with a whole bunch of information regarding the #BlackLivesMatter movement in Australia, and even a template letter to contact your local federal mp https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ytU31LSoGim5cra3nd5yfZ4IB-87NISnhJtwDEw0Zyc/mobilebasic.

I got to have a really lovely chat on a really nice balcony with Amos! The man behind Red Hot Kimchi (https://www.instagram.com/redhot_kimchi/). We shared the album Alfredo from Freddie Gibbs, and then talked green bridges in Brisbane, kimchi, Dragon Ball Z and the fundamentals of cooking. Amos recommended Maangchi for all things kimchi-recipe related (https://www.maangchi.com/) and that crosswords are a good group activity, and I recommended the songs Lilacs by Waxahatchee and No Time by Dos Dos. Hope you enjoy! :)

Season 1 Episode 9 - the Lumberjack with a ForestSea of Musical Knowledge

I talked with Cam all the way from Berlin! We talked a lot of music -- starting with the discography of the Whitest Boy Alive, then KOTA the Friend, Seja (and her amazing HearSej podcast), Maximo Park, Swipe Inc (https://open.spotify.com/artist/1Xwe8pB7mn9DbTzr7FPoqy?si=04c1PapWRZ-1j4OhBG4HVg), Bob Saget, Kite String Tangle, Bilderbuch and Confidence Man. We also talked about how music can act as an anchor point in your life, musicals inter alia (including adding to the Cats discourse), the best coffee in Italy and Confident Music for Confident People and, of course, coffee. Cam recommended the book How Music Works by David Byrne, albums by Thom York, KOTA the Friend, Chance the Rapper and I recommend the song Fold Laundry Together by Heaps Good Friends. I also briefly mention this setlist that Olympia did for Double J -- if you have any inclination whatsoever, I cannot recommend listening to it enough (https://www.abc.net.au/doublej/programs/artist-in-residence/artist-in-residence-olympia/12134814) . Hope you enjoy! :)

Season 1 Episode 8 - the Open & Kind Minded Seamstress

I caught up with Hayley! All the way from the US. It was really lovely! She had a tea and I had a coffee, and we shared the album Lost Friends by Middle Kids, an absolute gem of an album by an absolute jewel of a band. I briefly mentioned a couple of podcast episodes that involved them from triple j about the history of the song Edge of Town (https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/programs/mornings/inspired-middle-kids-edge-of-town/10961960) and about the history of the band members generally with double j (https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/program-unearthed/middle-kids-family-tree/9795118) -- I really recommend that latter link. We talked moving overseas, making friends, baking, digital minimalism, seweing and first impressions. Hayley recommended a couple of books, Educated by Tara Westover and Mountains on Mountains by Tracy Kidder, as well as going out of your comfort zone! I recommended the bands Pollyman and Everything Everything. Hope you enjoy! :)
