Earl Watts: From Rental Cars to Software Sales

Earl Watts: From Rental Cars to Software Sales

In this interview, we talk to Earl Watts --a sales manager at one of Silicon Valley’s hottest startups, Xamarin (acquired by Microsoft in 2016). Xamarin builds developer tools which help C# developers build fully native apps for iOS and Android with a shared code-base. For those of you outside of tech, that basically means it makes it possible for companies to build cross-platform apps at a fraction of the typical cost.

Earl had an interesting, winding journey going from a pre-Law student, to running the desk at Enterprise Rent-a-Car, to becoming a prominent manager at Xamarin.

Meet Clarisse Valera: Switching From Pre-Law to Software

Meet Clarisse Valera: Switching From Pre-Law to Software

In this episode, we talk to Clarisse Valera, a front end web developer at Beepi, a rapidly growing tech startup headquartered in Los Altos, California. Beepi runs an online peer-to-peer marketplace for buying and selling used cars, where transactions can be carried out entirely with a smart phone or a PC. Basically, it used to be pretty annoying to buy and sell a used car --but with Beepi, you can do that with ease. And they’ll deliver the car to you personally if you buy one!

Clarisse worked as an assistant at a law firm for a few years before she decided to make the leap and chase her dream of building websites. She came up with a carefully crafted plan to execute on this change, and her results speak for themselves. She is responsible for maintaining some of Beepi’s most important web pages, and she’s happier than ever before.
