Death in Catch-22 Hadley Cohen

    • Books

In this episode, I discuss the purpose of Joseph Heller’s use of death in Catch-22 as a motif and what he wants to satirize/bring to light through it. I look at all perspectives of the idea such as recognizing the fragility of life and the coldness to the topic of death in military settings. I come to the conclusion that both thoughts actually weigh on the idea that the men are more so mentally dying due to the traumatic deaths and the fear surrounding them and even find an article validating this. Listen to the episode to hear my complete thoughts on the topic.
