Don Franks - a brief history of Franks Diner, Kenosha

There’s a good chance that a lot of you out there are fans of or at least familiar with Guy Fieri and his show Diners Drive-Ins and Dives.

And if you’re a long time viewer then there’s also a good
chance that you’re familiar with Franks Diner in Kenosha,
Wisconsin.
Franks was featured on the show in its first
season, fifth episode back in 2006. Long a home town hang out, Triple D introduced the diner to a national audience. 18 years down the line and the show has proved to be a real boon to the business.
Today’s interview is one from the archives – back in 2010 we interviewed Don Franks, the last member of the Franks family to own the diner, about hisover 80 year association with it.

He talked to us about the diner, some of its famous patrons, and some of the messy history that the city opted to not write down.
Quick note – while I do show up in the interview its important to know I was not the one leading it. The interviewer is incredibly shy and asked to not be identified. I will honor her wish.
And now, Don Franks.
Thanks a lot for joining me this evening. I hope you enjoyed Don Franks and his brief first hand look at Franks Diners first 83 years.

I hope you join us next week for Jeff Noise, a blue collar man turned music artist.

Until then just remember that I tell you so today so that I
can say I told you so tomorrow.
See you next Tuesday and Dzetaland out!
