This sermon considers two men: a rich man and a poor man named Lazarus. Both died and we get a glimpse into the place of the dead. While learning about the afterlife, this sermon focuses on why Jesus told this story. We must recognize the sufficiency of the Scriptures for salvation and the need to respond to God's truth with repentance and faith.

In an age where skepticism abounds, this text reminds us of the surety of the resurrection. Christianity is not a philosophy or principles for living, it is God working in history to save a people through the physical death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. In this sermon we consider the essential nature of the resurrection, its factual basis in history, and finally its product of a living hope.
