The MORH TWOOS podcast will be discussing these topics below, based on our knowledge after reading The Warmth of Other Suns. The Great Migration is an event rarely discussed in American history textbooks. Who writes textbooks? Who decides what goes into textbooks? What message does that send when some events are included and others aren’t? Why should books like TWOOS be incorporated into curriculum? What other books do you think should be included? Why?

Discusses different options and means for protest and cite specific examples from the text (whether successful or not). What’s the most effective way to make a societal change? What makes one more effective than another? Why do you think some become more popular than others?
• Your group might also consider the events from this summer around the murder of George Floyd.
We also discuss March and where Lewis is at this point, what do you see as the turning points (i.e. the moments that shaped who John Lewis
became) in John Lewis life? How does the illustrator use visuals to demonstrate these significant moments in the text? Discuss specific examples in the text.
