    Episode 222 - Remembering the Legends: The Sherman Brothers

    Remembering the Legends: The Sherman Brothers

    Hey everyone, I'm Mike, she's Sophie, that's Brenda, and he's Grogu, and we're On the Road with Mickey! This is episode 222 and this week our feature topis is Remembering the Legends: The Sherman Brothers. In this episode, we are sharing our memories, favorite tidbits of information, and more about the Sherman Brothers after the passing of Richard Sherman on May 25th. Here's what we talked about:

    * Cheddar from the Big Cheese:

    * The big story this week – and the reason for the change in topic – is the passing of Richard Sherman at the age of 95. Mr. Sherman is one of a songwriting duo – the Sherman Brothers – along with his brother Robert, that have given millions of fans enjoyable music to listen to for decades. Today, we remember two of the best Disney Legends out there, and this episode is a tribute from our hearts and yours to the Sherman family in their time of grief.

    * Listener Feedback: Quick Service

    * John has these favorite quick service restaurants: “Earl of Sandwich, Casey’s Corner, Pecos Bills, most of the kiosks during any of the Epcot festivals, and Columbia Harbour House. At AK love the Flaming Tree BBQ and Pizzafari maybe Restaurantosaurus. HS I like ABC Commissary, PizzeRizzo. I know this is more than 5, but wanted to list what I liked.

    * Chandler had this to add to the list that our friend Cheryl totally agrees with. Here’s what he wrote: “Satuli's Cantina... Hands down a MUST go to whenever we're in my favorite Park.”

    * Feature Topic: Remembering the Legends: The Sherman Brothers

    * Brenda:

    * My favorite song by the Disney Brothers is the same as for many people, “Feed the Birds.” I have some history on that if you wouldn’t mind me sharing?

    * Second to “Feed the Birds” is another song that has always been a huge part of the parks for me, “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.”

    * The theme for Walt’s attraction, It’s a Small World is also one of my favorite songs by the Sherman Brothers. I have a bit of history on that one as well if I can share?

    * Mike:

    * Favorite Disney Song: Of course, I can’t just have one favorite…when it comes to the music that the Sherman Brothers created, I’m going to share two. Of course, so many like Feed the Birds (Tuppence a Bag), and I do as well. However, another song that I truly love is Let’s Go Fly a Kite. It’s a wonderful song that reminds us to not take life so seriously, to remember that amongst the work there HAS to be time for play as well, and in finding time to play, you may just notice that your troubles are left behind as well, at least for a little while. When Saving Mr. Banks came out, I came across this incredible pop-up video of this song that was performed outside the Odeon theater in London. It is such a cheerful,

There are over 300 species of animals at Animal Kingdom park, and eight of them are endangered. They are the Painted Dog, African Elephant, Western Lowland Gorilla, Komodo Dragon, Okapi, Giant Galapagos Tortoise, Sumatran Tiger, and Vietnam Pheasant. Be on the lookout for them when you are next at Animal Kingdom!

    * Cheddar from the Big Cheese:

    Hey everyone, I'm Mike, she's Sophie, that's Brenda, and he's Grogu, and we're On the Road with Mickey! This is episode 217 and this week we're going over our Walt Disney World Recap! In this episode, we're talking about all we saw and did at Disney last week. Here's what we talked about:

    * Cheddar from the Big Cheese:

    * Mike: We are fast approaching the 35th Anniversary of the opening of Disney MGM Studios, which opened on May 1, 1989. Of course, we now know of it as Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

    * Sophie: The 2024 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival dates have been announced! The festival will be running from August 29 - November 23, 2024!

    * Brenda: April 22, 2024. On this day, 60 years ago, 4 iconic Disney attractions opened for the 1964 New York World’s Fair. They are:

    * Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress

    * Disney’s “Highway in the Sky” and it’s omnimover system spawned such attractions as the Haunted Mansion, TTA, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

    * It’s a small world

    * The State of Illinois’ pavilion featured a jaw-dropping Audio-Animatronic technology of President Abraham Lincoln – the world’s first fully animated human figure. The success of the attraction led to Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln at Disneyland, which opened before the Fair’s end on July 18, 1965.

    * 42 days later, another Disney attraction came into the world - ME! HAHAHA
