An "ossia" is a musical term that literally means something optional--a passage that can be played instead of the original, and which is usually fun and interesting. While our chorus has not been able to meet in person to sing during the pandemic, we created this podcast instead.
Join Artistic Director Cory Davis and a rotating set of OVC singers as together they have entertaining and enlightening conversations about community, choral singing, LGBT issues, and more.
We'll pair our stories with relevant music recordings from our archives or recently created "virtual choir" songs.

Jess and Ethan (Imaginary Garden)
OVC Singer, Jess, and her friend Ethan Johnstone met when she attended medical school in South Carolina. We'll discuss LGBTQ health care, and Ethan's organization, Pride Link, which works to support the community in the Upstate region of South Carolina.

Claudette, Jordan, and Jenny (Chris and Gabe)
Jenny, Jordan, and Claudette have all been highly involved in our local PFLAG chapter here in Charlotte. Claudette has been on a journey of raising several children who are part of the LGBTQ community, while Jordan and Jenny are both teachers who’ve become the de facto queer representatives at their school.

Jan and Kathie (Love is Love)
Kathie and Jan met as singers in One Voice Chorus in 2001 and recently celebrated their 20th anniversary. The chorus has served as an anchor, supporting them when they couldn't support each other, and helping to reconnect them to their family. In this episode, we discuss their relationship, the importance of singing in an LGBTQ chorus, and how things have changed over the years.
