Hope to me has become the most essential commodity in the globe and that's understandable.
With dwindling supplies
Lean reserves spent on food and data and other subscriptions,
And little or nothing coming in,
With jobs being lost in their hundreds, thousands and even millions
With private sector companies laying off their staff.
And with the glaring non existent social welfare system on most of Africa
With the mainstay of most economies shrinking to next to nothing
You don't look too far to find the reason for the looming despair and hopelessness
But then hopelessness is a luxury I can't afford
Because I won't give in or give up
And if a man's heart doesn't fail him, he is sure to bounce back
But in times like this, it is important we understand what hope is and what hope is not
Hope is not the denial of facts
And hope is not generated by shying away from the hard realities that stare us in the face
In fact, Hope is anchored on the understanding of the dynamics of the Pandemic and world panics.
At the root of hope is deep understanding of the situation at hand and a resolve to rise above it. Hope is to, inspite of what is going on see rays of hope on the other side of the dark tunnel.
Hope is not a listless, endless wish for things to turn around
Hope enables us cope the most painful anguish, the most puzzling vicissitudes of life.
It helps us see gain in the pain. It paints pictures of possibilities through the dark moments of despair.
It says to the weary pilgrim, this look like the end, it is only but a bend.
Hope brings rejoicing and without hope, faith is impossible for I have to envisage it to believe it and believe it to envisage it.
Wasn't Martin Luther right when he said 'everything that is done in the world is done by hope.
I am Uche Gabriel aka UcdMc, I wish you hope to cope. Stay safe!
