Does Building Self-Esteem in Teens stop them Leaning on Booze?

Does Building Self-Esteem in Teens stop them Leaning on Booze?

If we raise kids that have high self-esteem will this make them less likely to drink alcohol?
This episode is for the parents out there that are feeling scared about their kids becoming teens, going off the rails, drinking cider in farmers fields and putting themselves at risk because of bad teenage choices. This is also for anyone who was this child (lets guess at about 98% of our audience!) was it your low self esteem that caused you to reach for the bottle and would life have been different if our parents had taught us to simply love who we are?
Today Vic and Hame talk about about how they felt as teens, why they rebelled and why they felt 'less than' growing up? Don't worry, after they've bored you with all their angsty teen insecurities they'll turn it all around and find out why instilling good values and some good old self worth into our kids might mean they are less likely to follow a drunken crowd and make wiser choices by themselves.
Get your biro's out Mums and Dads. This one is going to make you into a proper adult!

In this weeks retrospective episode, Vic was joined by her sister Louise.
(Not only has she been sober longer than Vic but she also just might be the funnier one!)
Louise worked in Advertising for years and has some absolute horror/hilarious stories to share about that time in her life!

    Are you a Beer Bully?

    Are you a Beer Bully?

Vic knows a lot about beer bullies... due to the fact she was one.
She used to force, anyone that wasn't joining in with 'the fun' into downing a pint. She's not proud of it, but her past indiscretions mean that in today's episode you get deep insight as to why non-drinkers get bullied into having 'just one' and what the bullies will say to convince you to have a tipple to two.
Vic and Hamish will also go over some brilliant responses that will hopefully stop the 'Tequila Tormentors ' in their tracks. Oh, and watch out! There are some very bad cockney accents and some unrelated talk of coat hangers in bums.
    It's quality stuff guys!

Which Triggers You Need to be Aware of to Avoid a Relapse

In this weeks retrospective episode, Vic and Lucy share some of the triggers they have had to be wary of to avoid the dreaded relapse!

Feeling Rejected? Here's What You Need to Do!

Feeling Rejected? Here's What You Need to Do!

Rejection. It’s something we all feel at some point in our lives, if not at school or a family member, it can be in a relationship or when you get sober. Whenever it might happen to you, there's one guarantee – it’s painful.
Vic feels rejection deeply. She even feels it from people she doesn't know. Whereas Hame doesn't care too much about what others think. His strong values and self-confidence mean that if people so turn their back on him.... He can handle it without going to therapy.
But, as always on Sober Awkward, they don't have all the answers. So today, these two idiots get an expert to come on and explain what's going on in their tiny weeny brains when friendships get sticky.
Today they welcome David Watson. An expert on personal development and neuroscience.
    David says,
'My core belief is simple yet profound: every individual harbours immense potential, capable of achieving anything they set their minds to. Yet, there's one potent supercomputer that often stands as the primary hurdle—the human brain. Understanding its intricacies, its unique drivers, and the lens through which it views the world is paramount. To unlock its full potential, we must learn to reprogram it, harnessing its power to work for us rather than against us. '
Intrigued? So were we. Listen why harnessing your power, knowing your values and having a 'Million Dollar Mindset' could unravel rejection once and for all.
