    Sin-Revival, Self-Denial [Romans 7:7-12] | GOSPEL OF GOD, #25

    Sin-Revival, Self-Denial [Romans 7:7-12] | GOSPEL OF GOD, #25

    SUMMARY

In this sermon, Pastor Dragoon discusses the relationship between law and sin, using Romans 7 as a reference. He explores the concepts of darkness, lawlessness, and personal transformation. Dragoon emphasizes the significance of understanding God's holiness, which reveals our own sinfulness and leads to repentance. He clarifies that the law is not the issue, but our sin is. Jesus, according to Dragoon, came to fulfill the law and provide victory over sin and death. He encourages listeners to surrender to Jesus for transformation.

    CHAPTERS

    00:00 Introduction and Opening Scripture

01:01 Defining Darkness and the Existence of God

    12:40 The Revival of Sin

28:14 Conclusion and Call to Transformation

28:43 The Revelation of God's Holiness

31:12 The Impact of God's Holiness on Our Lives

34:48 The Law and Our Sin

36:45 Jesus: The Fulfillment of the Law

39:56 Surrendering to Jesus for Transformation

42:48 The Power of the Blood of Jesus

    QUOTES

"It's possible to know the law in your head, but be lawless in your heart."
"When you get a revelation about the power of God's word in your life, your sin will be revived."

    TAKEAWAYS

The existence of evil in the world is an argument for the existence of a righteous God.
Knowing the law in your head is not enough; it must be written on your heart.
Lawlessness leads to destruction and is a rejection of God's sovereignty.
Receiving a personal revelation of God's word leads to personal transformation.
Understanding the revival of sin requires recognizing one's own brokenness and the need for spiritual death. Understanding the holiness and power of God leads us to repentance and a recognition of our own sinfulness.
The law is not the problem; our sin is. Jesus came to fulfill the law and bring us victory over sin and death.
Surrendering to Jesus and allowing Him to transform our lives is the path to freedom and a new creation.
The blood of Jesus washes us clean and allows us to be adopted as sons and daughters of God.

He emphasizes the importance of choosing the right partner and the impact it has on our lives. He uses the story of Abigail and Nabal from the Bible to illustrate the consequences of being married to a foolish person. He encourages listeners to fully surrender to Jesus and serve Him, which will result in bearing the fruits of the Spirit.

    Chapters

    00:00 Introduction and Overview

02:17 The Importance of Choosing the Right Partner

10:26 Being Married to the Flesh vs Being Married to Christ

29:42 Bearing the Fruits of the Spirit

43:48 Conclusion and Call to Action

    Quotable Quotes

    Sound Bites

"There are few decisions in life that are more important than who you decide to marry."
"We can be joined to the idols of this world. We can be joined to the enemy's strategies against us. And the result of those works of the flesh is death and destruction."
"We can leave the flesh behind, the commitment to the law, our sin, the power of those things is dead. And now I am free to enjoin myself to a new partner."

    Takeaways

The decision of who to marry is one of the most important decisions in life, as it greatly influences our future and destiny.
Being married to the flesh leads to a life of sin and destruction, while being married to Christ brings freedom and the opportunity to bear fruit for God.
We need to fully surrender to Jesus and serve Him, leaving behind the old habits and attitudes of our previous marriage to the flesh.
When we are joined to Christ, we can experience the fruits of the Spirit, such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Whose Slave Are You? [Hint: You Belong to SOMEONE]

Whose Slave Are You? [Hint: You Belong to SOMEONE]

    Chapters

    00:00 Introduction and Opening Scripture

08:05 Expository Preaching and the Book of Romans

15:25 The Consequences of Choosing Sin

39:45 Eternal Life and Freedom as a Slave of God

    Scripture

Romans 6:16-23– Don’t you realize that you become (are) the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. 17 Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you. 18 Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living. 19 Because of the weakness of your human nature, I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this. Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which led ever deeper into sin. Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become holy. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right. 21 And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom. 22 But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Takeaways

Everyone is a slave to something; we must choose whether to serve sin or God.
Choosing sin leads to death, while choosing God leads to righteous living and freedom.
Being in control of our own lives is a misconception; we surrender to the Lord of this earth.
Serving God is a choice that brings life and freedom. Being a slave to God means surrendering our lives completely to His will and trusting that He is a perfect and loving master.
Choosing to be a slave to God leads to righteous living, holiness, and sanctification.
We should serve God with the same passion and dedication that we once served sin.
Being a slave to God leads to eternal life and freedom from the power of sin.
