America's History of Immigration Griffin Wirth

My podcast follows the prompt of a moment in history that everyone should learn about. I chose to talk about ellis/angel island and the immigrants that crossed through there. I wanted to talk about what was really happening there. I want to bring up things like reasons why people were turned away. I want to talk about how they checked for things like trachoma with an eye hook. I want to talk about the last name log that they have of peoples last names and how some people now have last names like George because of people either misunderstanding the person speaking or seeing their real last name as too long so they put down their first name. I wanted to talk about this because it truly is a part of American history that is not always looked at with a microscope to see what actually happened. I wanted to talk about this topic because it can relate to today, but I also wanted to talk about this topic because I found I can relate this to my experience coming into America and see the difference from back then to now but also try to imagine what it must have been like back then to get into America.
