Today I want to tell you the most important habit you can learn in life when you want to lose weight and reach all your goals. And this is not get up early, meditate or exercise all day. It’s a strategy that you don’t find a lot about on the internet.

It’s a strategy that you don’t find a lot about on the internet. But if you apply them consistently and integrate them into your everyday life, your life will change for the better.

The Struggle of Sticking to Goals

Many people struggle with losing weight for a long time and accomplishing their goal weight seems almost impossible, but when the new year begins they start to make resolutions for the next year. They write their goals down in a to do list and add a lot of things to it like:


eating healthier
exercise more
drink more water

As they write it down they feel really great with this idea of achieving their dreams. It almost feels like they have even achieved it without doing anything.

So the new year comes around and they start to work on their goals. In the first week they go for a walk, start exercising and start preparing healthy food. But then there comes one day, where they don’t feel like going to the gym. And at home they don’t feel like eating the healthy food they prepared. They think there were so many days where they worked on their new habits and where they made lots of success. But today they want to keep a day off.

The Solution That Changed my Life

And with weeks and weeks going by there are more cheat days to come and they only go to the gym one single day per week anymore and one week later they completely stopped all their new routines. I can completely relate with this situation and you will probably had this experience in your life too, but what is this one thing that could make him stick to his goals for a longer time? It is commitment!

You really have to think about what you want to commit to. Most people start new habits with a big change from today to tomorrow. In the last year they haven’t done any exercise and now they want to do it 3 times per week. That’s too much. Instead of forcing yourself to go to the gym 3 times a week start by going to the gym one time in the first 2 weeks, 2 times in the second weeks after and 3 times in the month after that. So the body can handle this change and can adopt to this new routine.

But this isn’t everything.

The most important part of your new habit “commitment” is to really commit to your new routine. It sounds so easy, but in reality, this is the hardest part. Stick to your new routine every single day without any excuses. This is so important. Because if you find excuses for not doing it and put it off, this excuse will be the justification for yourself to for not doing it the next time. And what helped me the most to implement this habit was the quote: “You don’t have to feel like doing it”.

And this completely changed my life. Because we always think, yeah I have to feel like exercising today or like eating healthy…. But this isn’t true. You don’t have to feel like doing it. You only have to stick to your commitment and be proud of yourself.

And by sticking to it every single time, the new habit becomes your new reality.
