John 18:12-27 | This Sunday that step takes us into the courtyard and house of the High Priest of the Hebrews. As Jesus is inside answering questions, we find Peter outside in the courtyard dodging questions. If you've been a Christian for any amount of time, you're probably familiar with this account of Peter in the courtyard. It resonates with us doesn't it? But what exactly is John hoping we take away from it? *hint: he's NOT trying to shame Peter or those who might find themselves denying Jesus!

John 17:19-31 | The Gospel of John has been such a treat. We're so encouraged by God's incredible love for the Son on display in this work that we see that overflowing to his disciples that, in turn, overflows to the world around them, cascading down each generation to find it's resting place in us as we look to pass it along to the next. It is such a privilege to be a conduit for THIS love and to experience the blessing of it in the ways that we love one another on in the midst of an onlooking world.

That's what our 3rd installment of Jesus' prayer after the Last supper is all about (John 17:20-26). If you missed part 1 or part 2, you still have plenty of time to catch up, you will want the basis of Dave's past 2 sermons to most fully grasp how Jesus closes this prayer when he specifically prays for YOU!

John 17:6-19 | Over the last few years, we’ve made the Sunday after Easter a remembrance of the final act of the gospel story, The Ascension. Jesus came, he lived, he died, he rose from the grave, and then ascended into the heavenly places to sit at the Father’s right hand as all things are put under his feet. This is an essential last Act to remember and reflect upon. So, we will do that this Sunday within the flow of our John series. So, if you want to read ahead, we will focus on the middle section of Jesus’ high prayer in John 17:6-19. This is a beautiful intercessor prayer that our Lord prays over the 11 Disciples and in connection over us. I can’t wait to unpack it and see what riches we find buried inside.
