Flying High with Come Fly with Malia

Flying High with Come Fly with Malia

Tell me a quarantine hobby you started in 2020. For me, it was maybe cooking or painting. For Malia, it was learning how to fly a plane and pivoting career paths. Malia, based in Southern California, started out as a pre-med student and it wasn't until last year early in the pandemic, that she decided that maybe that wasn't the right path for her. She never thought about being a pilot despite having a pilot in the family. It's crazy how that changed and how she is now passionate about making change in the pilot industry which has been male-dominated traditionally. What started out as just a fun little hobby has turned into a successful TikTok and really a mission for Malia.

Listen to this great conversation about pivoting, pursuing your dreams, and what the journey to becoming a pilot looks like!

All about Responsible Travel, Travel Privilege, and Social Work with Sojourner

Sojourner from The Sojournies and I met years back on social media. She had just completed Fulbright and was also a college student like me. I was seeking friends who were traveling like I was and finding ways to do it for free. Sojourner completed a Fulbright and also participated in AmeriCorps! She's traveled extensively and now works full-time as a social worker.

She ties in racial injustice, social issues, and responsible travel tips into everything she says and puts out. How did she win these opportunities? What are some other ways to go on funded trips? If these are some questions you have in your head, then you've come to the right place!

    Pharmacy burnout

    Pharmacy burnout

I found myself struggling and miserable at times. I'm in a much better place now, but how did I find my love for pharmacy again? I had a change in mindset, tuned out people who really didn't matter, and believed in myself and didn't give up.
