Shaping You (Shema): Shaping Perspective | Faith in Five
Stop for a second and consider all the many things you have in your home. 1st most of us have a place to stay and a roof over our heads. We have a pantry with food and a bathroom with running water and toilets that flush. These things are amazing. We might even have windows that look outside with views of our lawn, our driveway, nature, water, or even city views. Still more amazing stuff. Think about all the great things we have in our lives that make them easier, comfortable, and more robust.

Shaping You (Shema): Shaping Actions | Faith in Five
If you have kids or have ever babysat or even observed parents parenting, you are aware that kids have a unique ability to hear but not listen. Parents regularly ask, “Will you clean up your room?” or extend the invitation for bath time or dinnertime to no response or action. In the moment, parents usually raise their voices to ensure that the receiver of these messages can hear them clearly, but to no avail. Only when we employ the magic of a countdown or include a consequence do the words move from hearing to action.
