Season 1 Episode 8 - the Open & Kind Minded Seamstress so good pod

    • Personal Journals

I caught up with Hayley! All the way from the US. It was really lovely! She had a tea and I had a coffee, and we shared the album Lost Friends by Middle Kids, an absolute gem of an album by an absolute jewel of a band. I briefly mentioned a couple of podcast episodes that involved them from triple j about the history of the song Edge of Town (https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/programs/mornings/inspired-middle-kids-edge-of-town/10961960) and about the history of the band members generally with double j (https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/program-unearthed/middle-kids-family-tree/9795118) -- I really recommend that latter link. We talked moving overseas, making friends, baking, digital minimalism, seweing and first impressions. Hayley recommended a couple of books, Educated by Tara Westover and Mountains on Mountains by Tracy Kidder, as well as going out of your comfort zone! I recommended the bands Pollyman and Everything Everything. Hope you enjoy! :)

so good pod is ostensibly just an excuse to sit down and talk with a friend for a while and become a bit closer. It's a part of @so_good_dog (https://www.instagram.com/so_good_dog/). We share a coffee together, or tea, or beer, or even listening to an album or song, and use that as a jumping off point to talk for a while. Because I love friends, and they're all incredible amazing people, and there's always so much I don't know about people, or I feel just dedicating time to talking with someone is a really positive way to become closer to them - and a really wonderful way to spend time. Hopefully you enjoy the conversation, and feel free to use it as an excuse to start a conversation with a friend in your own life! Stay well :)
