Birth of a Nation--The Black Female Body--Learning Valuable Lessons from White Supremacy R.O.G.U.E. (Reflecting On a Generation Under-Empowered)

Birth of a Nation was a 1915 film directed by D.W.Griffith. This is three hours of filmmaking that single-handedly changed the perception of the white woman and black man in American for generations. Birth of a Nation led to the KKK being resurrected, spurring the lynching of thousands of black men for alleged, “inappropriate” interactions with white women. Interestingly, all of this had an indirect and often overlooked effect on the black woman, her body, and lifestyle. There is a drastic contrast in the lives of black and white women that needs to be discussed.
