    • 科技

Welcome to IBM’s Keep It Simple (KIS) Technology Podcast hosted by Thomas F. Anglero, Nordic Director of Innovation for IBM. In this episode, Anders Askevold, Manager Smart Centre at GS1 Norway shares his experience of working with partners on innovation and taking risks with the newest technologies that can improve your business.

Our discussion begins with talking about the state-of-the-art technology visitor center that Anders has built-in Oslo, Norway.  The GS1 Smart Centre in Norway is incredible.  Every item, every technology has been strategically placed so when partner companies come into use the facility they are immediately inspired to take risks and think differently.  Creating this incredible environment is critical to being innovative and trying technologies that other competitors in your industry are not using yet.

Our discussion then focuses on RFID technology and the benefits specifically for the retail industry.   Anders has years of experience at GS1, explaining cutting-edge technologies to companies. RFID has been an emerging technology for many years but now with the importance of tracking items and knowing where and what condition an item is in is critical, the time for RFID is now.  Anders shares several valuable new usage models for FRID technology.  He shares stories of how a large retailer came into GS1 and thought their inventory systems were very good.  With only 10 seconds and using RFID, Anders proved to the partner the potential amount of money the partner has lost and the incredibly short payback period for when implementing RFID technology.
