Molly Community Science Salmon Camp and Workshop
In July, Bethel is hosting a special camp and workshop on protecting salmon. On the phone to speak about the project are Justin Leon with the Kuskokwim Fish Commission, Stephanie McFadden. with Alaska Public Media, and Jessica Reuter Andrews with GBH, public radio in Boston Massachusetts. Here to speak with them is Theresa Quiner, Director of the Kuskokwim Consortium Library, who is deeply involved in organizing the Molly Community Science Salmon Camp and Workshop, scheduled for the week of July 8th.

What fishing used to like up the Yukon
Joining us for “Coffee” are two grandmothers from Teslin, a village along the Yukon River in Canada. They support the seven-year pause in salmon fishing in the river. They spoke to KYUK’s Johanna Eurich.

Data fights violence against Native women
Alaska has some of the highest numbers of missing and murdered indigenous women in the country. One of the many difficult parts of this situation is that it is not clear how many women are missing and/or murdered. Joining us on the phone for “Coffee” today is Dr. Charlene Aqpik Apok. She is the Executive Director for Data at Indigenous Justice, a coalition behind some legislation to change public policy to better address the issue of missing and murdered indigenous women. Here to speak with her is KYUK’S Gabby Salgado.
