    Ep. 9: An Honor & A Pleasure

    Ep. 9: An Honor & A Pleasure

The title of this episode truly reflects how I feel about having the opportunity to get to know Bryan Patterson Jr. more in depth. This man is a musician, creator, innovator, activist, and leader. All wrapped in a cool demeanor and silky voice. He is consistent in his goals and beliefs, and walks the walk of what he talks.

Speaking with him about the birth and evolution of the Bleuz Is Life brand was inspiring, and I can't wait to see where the journey continues to takes him. Having received recognition from musical masters such as Missy Elliot, Big Sean, Jhene Aiko and many more, I know he can only succeed. Though I have become disillusioned with participating in the political process, Bryan reminded me how far we've come and our responsibility to continue to vote to as a form of activism. It was refreshing to hear his thoughts on the role of black men and women, and how we can move forward with integrity and accountability.

We are two people who met once in a chance encounter, coming from completely different places. We never saw each other in person again, but we have remained connected for seven years now. I believe we are meant to change the world in separate ways working towards to same goal, and I feel truly blessed to know Bryan Patterson Jr. We are shaping and changing the Black narrative and reality one action at a time, by spreading love, positivity, creativity, and clarity. Follow Bryan on all the platforms @bleuzislife and visit bleuzislife.com to view all his published content and merchandise.

Ep. 8: Don't Take It Personal

Ep. 8: Don't Take It Personal

On this week's episode, I catch up with another, "loud, lightskinned girl from Baltimore County" as my husband would say. But we are SOOO much more than that! Follow my guest this week @__simplyre, and check out her content @arkofart_.

There is so much to discuss, and Marissa (Re') and I try to dig into it all! For the news segment we discuss the three stooges of presidential candidates, Kanye, Trump, and Joe Dementia. As you all should know by now, this is an UNCOMFORTABLY UNAPOLOGETIC Black podcast/platform. So the uncomfortable topics range from post-grad job hunting and The MUVEment's American Descendant's of Slavery (ADOS) Reparations Plan, to the unfortunate deaths that occurred before and during the COVID pandemic and the Black liberation revolution. We wind down and discuss Black writers, directors, producers and more by dissecting some semi-recent Black films.

And as always, arrest the cops that killed Breonna Taylor while she was sleeping in her bed in her home on March 13, 2020. Black Lives Matter.

Ep. 7: Stand For Something, Fall For Anything

Ep. 7: Stand For Something, Fall For Anything

Please join me and welcoming back my father to the show! Every time we speak, our purpose is to seek the truth in the world. So this episode is revved up with no brakes, and a little out of order. We start the uncomfortable conversation by discussing why African descendants and Europeans are so different. Could it be because of alien intervention? Then we get real and talk about the benefits of being in a professional work union, the purpose of striking, and how politics is intertwined in all of this. We finish this episode with a some local news that really pissed me off. We recorded this in mid-June 2020, when the topic of defunding the police was making headlines. So we discuss the role the media plays in gas-lighting the Black community, and the planned destruction of Randallstown - a predominately Black, middle-class, suburban community in Baltimore County, Maryland.

    Ep. 6: Sister To Sister

    Ep. 6: Sister To Sister

My stepsister Gradie has some of the realest perspectives I've heard, and this week I'm sharing them with you all! There are many people who are beginning to wake up and feel empowered to make differences to the systematic injustices that we face, and it is my hope to meet those people where they're at to encourage future growth. Check out Gradie's Custom Creations of wine glasses, bud jars, ashtrays, candles and more @Creative_Sistaz. Follow Shai West for inspirational talks @ShaiWestTheBrand.

During the news portion of this episode, we discuss the purpose of our Mayors and City Councils and the importance of learning about your local politicians. Then, we compare our feelings about growing up in church and why we don't feel comfortable attending now. Since the second anniversary of our dad's passing is approaching on July 2nd, we take some time to discuss how he may have felt about COVID and the BLM protests if he were alive today in 'Real Talk'.

    Ep. 5: Things May Change...And That's Okay

We've been under quarantine and dealing with COVID madness for over 90 days now, and a lot has changed in three short months. This week my husband and I discuss potential problems and solutions to operating a public summer camp for youth, handling family with opposing viewpoints on social media, and the effects of being laid-off on a relationship.

Ep. 4: Black Dads Matter #GirlDad

Episode 4 features a few special changes that I'm happy to share with you all and I hope you enjoy :) This includes an intro sung by yours truly with music created by Bryan Patterson (@bleuzislife), as well as musical transitions and outro music created by Kayla Pinson (@mysoultaughtmei).

Since we're leading up to Father's Day, I wanted to take this time to show my father some love and appreciation, even if we don't always see eye to eye on societal issues. This week I catch up with my dad to chat about food creations and potential business ideas, The BLM protests and how democrats have failed the Black community, and the future of human enlightenment.
