Episode 10: The Saints of Eucharistic Prayer I
Have you ever been at mass and heard a long list of Saints during the Eucharistic prayer? Many of them are familiar, like Mary, Joseph, and the Apostles… some of them might not be, like Linus, Cletus, Clement, Sixtus, Cornelius, Cyprian, Laurence, Chrysogonus, John and Paul, Cosmas and Damian… and then after the consecration, there is another long list… who are all these people? And why do they get special mention in the Eucharistic Prayer? In this episode, I explore the Saints of Eucharistic Prayer I, aka the Roman Canon.

Episode 9: Eucharistic Saints (Live)
On January 31st, 2024, the feast of St. John Bosco, I had the opportunity to present a talk to Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church in Foxfield CO in the Archdiocese of Denver: "Eucharistic Inspiration: Miracles and Saints". Here is a portion of the evening on Eucharistic Saints. For content on Eucharistic Miracles, see Episode 8 of the Cannonball Podcast.
That was a great night. We laughed, we learned, there was juggling, audience participation, a random volunteer who happens to play for the CO Rockies… all of the hits. Best of all, plenty of Eucharistic Inspiration. I would love to bring this presentation to a church or conference near you. Go Through It
Br. Jude has some provoking thoughts on going through difficulties. The Saints were everyday people… I almost said ordinary, but as CS Lewis notes in his magnificent essay, the Weight of Glory, there is no such thing as ordinary people. There are only immortal horrors rejecting God by their own free choice and focusing on self alone, or immortal splendors reflecting God’s own glory. How can we learn from the Saints' experience of struggle in life?
