    Pastor Gene’s sermon is part of a series called “Forgotten Heroes,” focusing on lesser-known people from the Bible to draw spiritual truths from their stories. Today’s message is about Naaman, a commander who had leprosy, highlighting the contrast between his public success and private struggle. Pastor Gene relates this to our lives, where we often hide our shame and struggles behind our accomplishments.

    He emphasizes that pride can handicap us, using Naaman’s initial refusal to follow Elisha’s instructions as an example. Naaman’s pride and preferences initially hindered his healing, as he wanted a more dignified and private solution. However, through the intervention of his servants, who reasoned with him, Naaman humbled himself and followed the prophet’s directions, resulting in his miraculous healing.

    Pastor Gene makes several key points:

    * Pride handicaps us: Naaman’s pride almost prevented his healing.

    * Preferences hinder us: We often want things our way, but God’s way is what brings healing.

    * God uses people to humble us: Naaman’s servants helped him see past his pride.

    * Healing can be a process: Naaman had to dip in the Jordan River seven times, illustrating that sometimes healing takes time and persistence.

    He concludes by encouraging the congregation to make a move towards God, using the acronym MOVE:

    * Make a decision to be faithful.

    * Open the Bible for guidance.

    * Verify that God is speaking to you.

    * Expect God to move in your life.

    Pastor Gene calls for humility and obedience to God’s instructions, highlighting that God loves us as we are and wants to heal and restore us. He encourages the congregation to continue in their faith journey, praising God even amidst struggles, and preparing for God’s movement in their lives.

    * John 14:16

    Pastor Gene’s sermon delves into the theme of salvation and the presence of God in our lives. He emphasizes the importance of understanding what it truly means to be saved and how God’s grace plays a vital role in this process. The sermon is structured around the metaphor of cleaning one’s house, symbolizing the inner purity required for God’s presence to dwell within us.

    Pastor Gene stresses the need for a balanced understanding of biblical teachings, highlighting the importance of interpreting scriptures within their context. He emphasizes that God’s grace is central to salvation, regardless of one’s past mistakes or doubts.

    The sermon progresses to discuss the concept of God’s presence throughout history, starting with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Despite their initial communion with God, sin led to their expulsion from His presence. Subsequently, God established the Tabernacle as a place for His presence, with strict rituals and regulations governing access to it.

    However, Pastor Gene explains how even this system was flawed, as evidenced by Jesus’ rebuke of the money changers in the temple. Ultimately, Jesus becomes the perfect vessel for God’s presence, as He is without sin.

    The end of the sermon revolves around the revelation that believers now serve as the dwelling place of God’s presence. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, our bodies become temples of the Holy Spirit, allowing us to experience God’s presence intimately.

    In conclusion, Pastor Gene encourages listeners to embrace their role as carriers of God’s presence, dispelling any feelings of unworthiness or inadequacy. He emphasizes that God’s grace cleanses us from sin and enables us to dwell in His presence continually. The sermon culminates in a call to worship and gratitude for the privilege of hosting God’s presence in our lives.
