Over the past several weeks, we have spent time considering who God is, what He has done, and what He is continuing to do. We have considered who we are in light of God's faithfulness. This week, the conversation shifts from simply considering these things to responding to these things. To have a relationship with God, we have to move past simply considering it. We have to respond to it.

In the second to last conversation of this series, we are invited to consider God's faithfulness in our lives as well as God's discipline in our lives.

We can easily be all about God's faithfulness but not have the same attitude when it comes to God's discipline. We see discipline as something to be rejected at all costs. What if there was a reason behind God's discipline? What if discipline from God was not evidence of God's anger or frustration but God's love and presence? All of these things are addressed as we continue to walk our way through Nehemiah 9.

In the ninth conversation of the series, we come to the moment where the wall is finished...the project is complete...the job is done...now what?



In the ninth chapter of Nehemiah, we see a shift happen. We see that the focus moves from physical restoration to spiritual restoration. In this conversation, we are encouraged to consider what has to take place within us to experience a heart restoration.

1. Encounters with the enemy are part of the journey as a Jesus follower.

2. The enemy likes to make it personal.

3. The enemy is not unbeatable.

The enemy that influenced the opposition against Nehemiah then is the same enemy that influences the opposistion against Jesus followers today.
