    Post Holiday Blues……

After our brief break, we are back with Episode 154 of Null
    & Void.

We kick off with the US Open Golf and the thrilling finale
between Brydon DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy, before moving onto football’s Euros and the opening win for England and defeat for Scotland against hosts Germany.

In rugby union we look back at the Premiership Final as well as the latest round of rugby league’s super league. Meanwhile it was the final round of the regular seasons in the netball super league, as we now head into the play off finals.

In cricket’s T20 World Cup the USA and Afghanistan have been the surprise packages into the Super 8 stage, whilst England  were given a scare by rain in their game against Namibia and had to rely on a favour from old foes Australia to make it through to the next stage at Scotland’s expense.

Our guest this week is Ken Carter, who joins us to talk about his lifelong involvement in sport, including playing rugby for Blackheath, London Irish, the Royal Marines as well as the brave decision to play for BOTH Cornwall AND Devon! Ken also chats about his involvement in establishing Deaf Sport First – an organisation that supports deaf people in maximising their sporting potential – and how their remit is evolving with innovation in sports science and artificial intelligence.

A fantastic guest and a great show.

City & Chelsea Secure Titles, Challenge Cup Off to Wembley and Double World Record & Para-Athletic Golds

City & Chelsea Secure Titles, Challenge Cup Off to Wembley and Double World Record & Para-Athletic Golds

We have another fantastic episode for you this week, bringing you the latest from 10 sports. We kick off with a wrap up of the final day in both the Premier League and Women’s Super League football-with Manchester City winning a fourth successive title in the men’s, and Chelsea securing their fifth successive crown in the women’s.

In Rugby League it was the Challenge Cup semi-finals, with Wigan & Warrington booking their places in the men’s final, and in the women’s final Leeds & St Helens will do battle for the third final in a row – with both games taking place at Wembley on 8th June. Meanwhile Rugby Union’s final round in the Premiership saw Northampton, Bath, Sale and Saracens secure their places in the play-off semi-finals.

It was a gold rush for British athletes at the World Para
Athletic Championships in Kobe, with Hannah Cockroft winning her 7th 100m world title, and Hollie Arnold her 6th in the javelin. But special mention needs to go to Sabrina Fortune, who broke the world record twice on her way to shot putt gold.

We follow your contacts with Get a Grip, where we aim a
broadside at the lunacy of Newcastle, Spurs and the Arsenal women’s sides in flying out to Melbourne to play a set of meaningless end of season friendlies immediately after a gruelling domestic campaign-showing a complete disregard for both player welfare and their carbon footprint.

Another cracking episode from the Null & Void team.

    It’s our 150th Episode!

    It’s our 150th Episode!

This week marks a special milestone as it’s our 150th
episode – and to celebrate we’re bringing you the regular smorgasbord of sports that you all love.

We start with football, where a fantastic Ella Toone goal kick started Manchester United in winning their first Women’s FA Cup. For their male counterparts a 1-0 loss to Arsenal amidst the Old Trafford floods means it’s advantage Man City over the Gunners in the final week of the Premier League.

In Rugby Union the play off chase also goes to the final
week, although Northampton not only had a league record 90-0 win over Gloucester, but secured their place with a week to spare. Play off places were also up for grabs in Netball’s Super League; Manchester Thunder secured their spot with a 63-44 win over Cardiff Dragons, whilst wins for Loughborough Lightning and London Pulse all but guaranteed them semi-final spots.

In Tennis, Novak Djokovic managed to get knocked out twice- firstly from a metal water bottle and secondly from 29th seed Alejandro Tabilo!

Our guest this week is Simon Cowlard, who has raised over £26,000 for Multiple Myeloma since being diagnosed with the blood cancer in early 2022. Simon returns to give us an update on his journey, as well as share his latest fundraising effort, which will see him and a team of friends walking between the grounds of all London’s Premier League and Football League clubs.

A brilliant story to cap off our milestone episode!

We have a 10 sport bonanza for you this week, as well as the return of our football correspondent to give us his thoughts ahead of the final furlong of the football season.

We start with a fantastic first ever F1 win for McLaren’s
Lando Norris, after he beat Max Verstappen in Miami. A great win for a popular racer.

It was the European Cup semi-finals in Rugby. Leinster held on for a 20-17 win over Northampton Saints in front of a record 82,500 crowd at Croke Park, whilst Harlequins went down 38-25 to five times champions Toulouse.

In Netball, it was a top of the table clash between
Manchester Thunder and Loughborough Lightning, with the Mancunians winning 61-57 to stretch their lead at the top of the table to 3 points. As the Madrid Tennis open come to a conclusion, World number 1 Iga Swiatekt beat World number 2 Anya Sabalenka in the women’s final, whilst Andrey Rublev won out over Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the men’s.

We have an amusing update on contacts, before giving RFU CEO Bill Sweeney the Get a Grip treatment for putting greed over growth when talking ticket prices for Red Roses matches at Twickenham.

With the Champions League at semi-final stage and the
Premier League with just 12-days to go, we bring back football correspondent Billy Carr to give us his thoughts on how these final games could pan out and who he sees as the potential winners and losers at the end of the season.
