    Who are you running with?

    Who are you running with?

Mark Wilkie discusses how we go from running from the Lord, to running to the Lord, and then running with the Lord. This audio teaching is taken from our recent Vero Life Ministry men’s retreat.

    Key Scripture

    Ephesians 1:11-14 (NIV)

11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

There are people from all walks of life, tall, short, bald, old, young. Men who have been in prison, men who have run successful businesses, men who have been addicted, men who have done terrible things. Each and every one of us falling short of the Glory of God.

Jesus paid the price for them all. Jesus invites everyone to be a part of His tribe. His people. The One that accepts you no matter what. He wants you to be in relationship with Him. Committed to His TRIBE. To His Kingdom, living in eternity in His presence.

Vero Life - What is a Disciple?

Vero Life - What is a Disciple?

In this episode we discuss the D word. Discipleship. Simply put, a Christian is a disciple maker through the behaviors and actions that allow others to see Jesus in them. The way we live out our lives daily is that which leads people to know Christ, not just by our words.  We also discuss what folks in Minnesota do for fun when they live in a small town.

John Piper says, "So I think what is important is not the terminology, but the reality. People need to become Christians and people need to be taught how to think and feel and act as a Christian. That is, a disciple, a follower of Jesus, one who embraces him as Lord and Savior and Treasure."

Acts 13:47 says, "For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth."

Vero Life - Recovery from Addiction with Nick Ling

Vero Life - Recovery from Addiction with Nick Ling

Vero Life Ministry is a non-profit Christian organization that takes a real world look at how we live our lives as Christian men. Learning to obey God's teachings to make disciples, that make disciples. Covering topics like being the leader of our homes and in community. Encouraging and teaching how to deal with addiction, parenting, ethics and more! Our goal is to share God's Vero, His Truth, His Love and His Light.

This episode covers the topic of addiction and we hear from Nick Ling from the Nehemiah house in Vero Beach Florida. His powerful testimony of overcoming addiction and the way he has been redeemed through the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.

What is We started out as a small group of guys that have over the last year formed a community group of people who love the Lord. Our mission is to encourage equip and disciple in pragmatic real-world ways that make an impact on local community. We encourage in person one on one meetings, small group participation and of course our community retreats.

We will look at the story of Nehemiah too and the courageous steps he took to honor and serve God. Few people are familiar with the Biblical figure Nehemiah, and yet he was instrumental in the rebuilding and reestablishment of Jerusalem in the fifth century B.C. following the Babylonian exile. Him, being convicted in His heart to do something about the plight of his fellow Jews in Jerusalem.

Nehemiah 1:2-10 provides some insight into his life.

2 Hanani, one of my brothers, came from Judah with some other men, and I questioned them about the Jewish remnant that had survived the exile, and also about Jerusalem.

3 They said to me, “Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.”

4 When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. 5 Then I said:

“Lord, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 6 let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s family, have committed against you. 7 We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.

8 “Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, 9 but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.’

10 “They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand. 11 Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man.”

I was cup bearer to the king.”

Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem in 445 B.C. as the provincial governor of Judah Yehu! He immediately surveyed the damage to the entire city on his well-known night journey around the walls. He created a community who was interested in seeing Jerusalem rebuilt.

In Chapter 9 and 10 we read that they repented, and all the tribes sealed a new agreement in which they would honor God. In turn God blessed them but they had to make personal changes. Changes in behavior, associations, lifestyles, and customs. They had to as a nation honor God and His commandments and ask for that forgiveness and start the journey. Along the way there was some challenges but the took the stand to honor God a blessed them.

    Vero Life, Truth Life

    Vero Life, Truth Life

We have been led by the Holy Spirit to help people find their name, their identity in a very challenging or confusing world with double speak or duplicity in meaning and mixed signals. Life if tough enough as it is but when we receive information in a way that totally messes with our perspective, we find ourselves lost.

So, to help us help each other, we decided to start Vero Life. Vero Life’s mission is to teach, encourage and equip men to follow and obey their leadership roles in their homes as well as their community. We want to help these men to be disciples, that are equipped to make disciples, by sharing the love of Jesus and His Truth – or His Vero. It does also help that we live in Vero Beach.

We are called to bring many more people into the kingdom. Jesus makes this clear in Matthew 28:16–20

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Vero Life is seeking to meet men where they are, help them with day-to-day stuff, encourage and teach them how to be better husbands, fathers, brothers, and sons…. And then go into their workplace and community to encourage other men and lead those men into the Kingdom.

Lives healed and lives restored and then doing the work that God has called us to do.

All in all, is we are Christian men seeking to help other Christian men with struggles that we all deal with.

    Jesus said in Matthew 5:14-16:

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

We are a real life, down to earth, men helping men podcast that has feet and hands that serve. Next podcast we will explore the world of addiction with special guest who has been there done it and walked the tough road to victory in recovery. He is my friend and most importantly a grateful child of God. We look forward to sharing his redemption story with you.

We love you all. God Loves you. See you next time here at Vero Life and look us up on Facebook @Verolife.org or email us at info@verolife.org
