Episode 209 - King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

Welcome back to Not A Bomb! Yes, we're still donning sandals, wielding swords, and delving into films that flopped at the box office. In this week's episode, we're diving into the work of one of our favorite directors once more: Guy Ritchie. This time, we’re exploring his interpretation of the Arthurian legend with the 2017 film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. And since we're revisiting Guy Ritchie's oeuvre, it’s only fitting to welcome Nate back to the show—he previously joined us for our last Guy Ritchie discussion. We completely forgot about this little detail and ended up sounding like complete idiots when it came up. Honestly, feeling lost is pretty much par for the course on this show. So sit back and enjoy the chaos!

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law, and Eric Bana

    Episode 208 - Conan the Barbarian (2011)

Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we dive into some of cinema's biggest box office failures and explore whether they deserve a second chance.

Today, we celebrate four years of bad impressions, terrible jokes, and questionable movie opinions. We couldn't be more excited to invite Sammy from the GGTMC, who was one of the podcast's biggest inspirations.

Grab your broadsword and slip into your sandals! Not A Bomb is launching "Sword and Sandals" month with the 2011 reboot, Conan the Barbarian. Throughout the episode, we can’t help but gush over Jason Momoa and his impressive physique…oh…and those two honey-baked hams on his backside. Seriously, it's time well spent! When we're not admiring Momoa, we delve into whether this often-overlooked entry in the Conan saga deserves all of the bad reviews and lackluster fanfare. Spoiler alert: our verdict on this film might surprise you!

Conan the Barbarian (2011) is directed by Marcus Nispel and stars Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, Said Taghmaoui, Leo Howard, Bob Sapp, and Ron Perlman.

Episode 207 - Ghost in the Shell (2017)

Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we dive into some of cinema's biggest box office failures and explore whether they deserve a second chance.

Unfortunately, we bid ado to “Re-May'-ke” month with a remake of one of the most quintessential anime films of all time, Ghost in the Shell. You may have heard about this one during its production, as the film was controversial for some of its casting choices. Was the outrage justified? Did the film live up to the high expectations of the original anime? To help answer these questions and more, we are happy to bring back Jose from Watch/Skip+ to assist in the discussion.

Ghost in the Shell is directed by Rupert Sanders and stars Scarlett Johansson, Takeshi Kitano, Michael Pitt, Pilou Askaek, Chin Han, and Juliette Binoche

    Episode 206 - Get Carter

    Episode 206 - Get Carter

Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we dive into some of cinema's biggest box office failures and explore whether they deserve a second chance. “Re-May-ke” month is still rolling on as we peel back the layers on the darkly entertaining and tightly wound revenge story from 2000, Get Carter. Based on the novel “Jack Returns Home,” Get Carter failed to reach the heights of the 1971 version and only made back roughly 33% of its production budget. Sylvester Stallone was definitely trying to do something new with his career in 2000, but the film didn’t resonate with critics or the general audience. Does this 2nd remake of the famous British crime film deserve all the hate? Grab your trench coat, put on your best brooding face, and join us as we dissect this gritty gem on Not a Bomb!

Get Carter is directed by Stephen Kay and stars Sylvester Stallone, Miranda Richardson, Rachael Leigh Cook, Alan Cumming, Mickey Rourke, and Michael Caine.

This week, we can be found guesting all over the internet. Be sure to check us out over on YouTube -  Crying Freeman on Episode 35 of And Now for Something A Little Bit Different. Also, check out Episode 82 of Moviestruck, where we join Sophia to discuss M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening.

    Episode 205 - Total Recall (2012)

    Episode 205 - Total Recall (2012)

Welcome to your favorite movie podcast, Not a Bomb! We take a second look at some of the biggest box office bombs in cinema history to see if they truly deserve their infamous reputations.

Our podcast is launching into outer space this "Re-MAY-ke" month as we explore the sci-fi adventure of 2012's Total Recall. Reimagining the beloved Paul Verhoeven classic was quite the challenge, considering its iconic status in the sci-fi/action realm. The 2012 adaptation replaces certain sci-fi aspects of the original with heightened action scenes, featuring more leaps, gunplay, and chases. Additionally, this version includes what could arguably be one of the most contentious performances ever dissected on our show. Intrigued to learn more? Tune in to discover who we're talking about!

And don't forget, "Get your ass to the podcast!"

Total Recall (2012) is helmed by director Len Wiseman and features a cast including Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, John Cho, and Bill Nighy.

    Episode 204 - Psycho (1998)

    Episode 204 - Psycho (1998)

Welcome to your favorite movie podcast, Not a Bomb!! This is the podcast where we revisit some of the biggest box office failures in cinema history and explore whether they deserve a second chance.

‘Re-MAY-ke” month is upon us! That’s right! For the whole month of May, we are re-examining some of the biggest remake bombs in cinema history. We kick off the month with "Emcee" (Alex) and "Cupcake" (Jose) from Watch/Skip+ and discuss 1998’s remake of the Alferd Hitchcock classic - Psycho. Known as a shot-for-shot remake, the 1998 film brings all the color, violence, and maybe an orifice (just listen) to the updated version. The film failed to recoup its massive budget but, surprisingly, wasn’t hated by everyone. However, the most important questions is whether we considered it a bomb! For that, you need to listen!

Psycho (1998) is directed by Gus Van Sant and stars Vince Vaughn, Julianne Moore, Viggo Mortensen, William H. Macy, and Anne Heche
