Best Ovarian Stimulation Protocols for IVF with guest Dr. Geoffrey Sher

Best Ovarian Stimulation Protocols for IVF with guest Dr. Geoffrey Sher

Today on the Egg Whisperer Show podcast, Dr. Geoffrey Sher joins me again to talk about his approach to care when it comes to IVF. We are discussing how he individualizes IVF protocols to optimize egg and embryo quality, giving his patients the best chance of IVF pregnancy. As he shares, there is no "one size fits all" approach to choosing the best protocol for IVF. It's no surprise that I agree with him. Protocols need to be customized, and are dependent on the woman's age and her ovarian reserve. Tune in as we talk about how to pick a protocol, the role of the trigger shot, the importance of hormones like estrogen and testosterone, and EZ-IVF versus mini IVF.

Today on The Egg Whisperer Show, I'm honored to be joined by Jenny Lowe, the author of "Saved by Hope." Jenny has an amazing story. On her fertility journey, she has gone through IUI, IVF, had ovarian cancer, and later she and her husband used donor eggs to create embryos carried by a surrogate to realize their dream of growing their family.

In our interview, Jenny is so transparent about everything she went through. She is open about the challenges she faced in fertility treatment, she explains how IVF saved her life, and she opens up about being nervous about bonding with her child. She talks about how her husband approached the topic of using a donor egg, being a donor conceived person himself.

There is so much goodness and hope in our conversation. I know that anyone who has been in fertility treatment, or who has had cancer impact their fertility will be inspired by what she has to share. Thank you for being on the show, Jenny!

‘Saved By Hope’ is Jenny’s first published work and is available on Amazon.

    Preparing for your Embryo Transfer

    Preparing for your Embryo Transfer

Read the full show notes: https://www.draimee.org/preparing-for-embryo-transfer

On today’s podcast episode, I’m talking about preparing for embryo transfer. I find that it’s helpful to think about embryo transfer the same way you might think about having a very special guest over for dinner.

What are you going to do if you have a very special person over? You’re going to make sure everything is absolutely perfect. When it comes to preparing for an embryo transfer, you want to take the same approach. Your metaphorical home in the house analogy is your uterus.

The devastation of doing more tests and finding out that something might be wrong that you have to fix is kind of a pain, but the devastation of going through a transfer that doesn’t work is also pretty darn awful. Because I work so hard to help families, if I can do anything to prevent someone from not experiencing the devastation of a negative embryo transfer, I’m going to do everything possible to clean up that house and make sure it’s perfect.

What I recommend is that people do 3 tests before embryo transfer to make sure your uterus is absolutely perfect prior to your embryo transfer. They are: Hysteroscopy Saline Infusion, Sonogram, and Hysterosalpingogram.
