Locked On Marlins POSTCAST: ('LIVE') J.D. Martinez, Mets Walk it off vs Marlins 3-2 in Series Finale
J.D. Martinez smashed a two-run home run off Tanner Scott in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Mets a 3-2 win, and the Marlins another gut-wrenching loss in a season that has been full of them.
Martinez's HR- his first career walk-off- drove in Francisco Lindor, who had walked and stolen second base, sending Mets fans into a frenzy in Queens. J.D. went 2-4 on a night when the Marlins held the Mets to just three hits.
The Mets' late-inning heroics wiped out a brilliant start by Marlins' Rookie Roddery Munoz, who pitched six brilliant innings of one-hit baseball. Munoz struck out five and walked only one in what was easily the best start of his best career.
But the Marlins' bullpen was shaky for the second straight game. Anthony Bender and Calvin Faucher pitched out of a bases-loaded jam with no outs in the seventh inning, allowing just one run.
Jake Burger and Jazz Chisholm hit solo home runs for the Marlins, and Tim Anderson had his second two-hit game in this series. -
