Oppression Through the Decades : Movements like Wounded Knee Can Change It All

Oppression Through the Decades : Movements like Wounded Knee Can Change It All

In 1973, the American Indian Movement started something in the town of Wounded Knee that became much more than a standoff. In the following few months inequalities would be revealed, corrupt officials exposed and support garnered for the brave activists leading the movement. What isn't as widely discussed is the gory history behind the location or the conditions during the standoff. How has such a significant movement not been more widely heard of, and what have been the lasting effects? Is it possible for Indigenous people to take a stand against oppression that has been so ingrained in their country? This episode will answer those questions and more to spread awareness in the non-Indigenous community about this historic, under discussed event.
