The Hadjer Lamis province shares a border with Far North Cameroon and is one of the regions most affected by the Boko Haram conflict. In this episode, former Governor, Ali Haroun, calls for a coordinated approach amongst the crucial partners. To support the efforts of the government in leaving no one behind, he calls for three significant actions in the province: (1) Strengthening trade and essential services; (2) Using agriculture as a pathway to economic revitalisation; (3) Reducing internal conflicts, and improving safety and living conditions for the safe and voluntary return of IDPs.

H.E Midjinyawa Bakari is the Governor of the Far North Region in Cameroon. In this podcast, he recalls the joint efforts of LCBC, AU, the UN, and other partners to develop a sustainable strategy to stabilize the LCB. He notes the success of the strategy after two years of implementation: a strengthened relationship between militaries, civilians, and vigilantes’ committees, improved engagement of CSOs, and the commitment of partners in facilitating more learning opportunities for youth, especially young girls in the Lake Chad Basin region.

Through the Regional Stabilization Facility, we support peacebuilding and development in the region to rebuild social contracts and reduce violence.

This mini-podcast series takes us through the journey of understanding the crisis, the role of stabilization and the need for responses that cater to the needs of the more than 30 million people directly affected by the crisis.
