The Record journalist Eric Martin has this week spoken with Caritas Australia Head of Mission Sister Jo Brady RSJ.

Sr Jo spoke on the launch of Project Compassion 2020, noting that the vision of Caritas “to end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity” complements her Josephite charism

As an educator with many years’ experience in secondary and tertiary education and having spent time in East Timor setting up a Secondary Teachers’ College with the Jesuits, Sr Jo draws on both her education and missionary experience in her role at Caritas.

Carly Power is a classically trained soprano with a love of early music from the Baroque period.

She completed her music studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 2011 and a Graduate Diploma of Music in 2012.

Carly formerly held the position of Principal Cantor at St Mary’s Cathedral and shares a long history with the Cathedral’s Music Director, Jacinta Jakovcevic.

Since leaving WAAPA, Carly has continued to pursue her love of music and performing. In 2015 she won Art Song Perth’s Evelyn and Ralph Thompson Memorial Scholarship.

Following a long and involved auditioning process at some of the most prestigious music schools in Europe, Carly decided to attend Dresden College of Music in Germany.

The Record was privileged to catch up with Carly in February, during her recent sabbatical back home in Perth.
